Rely, I really hate the dentist. I'd rather have a pap smear once a week than go to the dentist once a year. So I haven't been in like 4 years. I hope your teeth have quit pounding. Take care. Hugs, Brenda
I HATE the dentist. But I did find a good one, who gives me drugs to sedate me and reduce the pain.
I will say you are paying a huge amount. Insurance paid for a huge hunk of mine and I had a root canal, procilen crown, 2 white fillings, and the deep cleaning for 375 and that was it.
Then again things are a bit less expensive out here.
I haven't been to the dentist in at least 2 years - but that's nothing compared to my mom, who didn't go for 17 years!!!
I don't really mind going, except that the last time I was there I remember she had this anti-tongue piercing article on her waiting room wall - and since then I have gotten a tongue piercing and just don't need the grief from her.
I HATE the dentist, also (who doesn't?). I have to go next month and I'm already dreading it.
When it comes to insurance, it definitely helps to be married and have both of us on our dental plans at work. What one plan doesn't cover, the other one picks up the tab. It's great! We were only on my dental plan for a while, and just recently signed up on his also. What a difference. I know this doesn't help you now, Rely, but maybe something to think about after you're married.
You all are making me feel lots better. I have been petrified of the dentist since I was a kid, I used to almost run out of the clinic when they'd call my name. The last time I saw the dentist was probably 6 or 7 years ago...he told me I needed like 4 or 5 fillings and my wisdom teeth all taken out immediately. I had the wisdom teeth removed, but I haven't been back for anything else. I've been trying to work up my courage because I have a couple teeth that are bothering me lately and I know I need to have them at least taken care of. The expense is also a factor, I can't really afford to fix my teeth when I've been paying $1200 a year for the last 3 years in medical bills for my son. We have insurance, but they only pay like 50-80% depending on work you are having done.
Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one who hates it!!
It's a relief to hear that others don't like the dentist too,and I hope you can get everything you need done with as little stress and pain as possible Rely.As for me...I tough it out for as long as possible before heading to a dentist because even thinking about making an appt.makes my heart race and I feel sick to my stomache =/
