Anyone seen it yet? I have, and even tried the pork chops which were excellent. But on the second, when he added velvetta to the mac and cheese....I had to think, what is this guy doing.

Is it a television program? I haven't heard of it before. If so, what channel has it? I don't watch cooking programs but several relatives do and they're always looking for a good one.

This may be one they've already mentioned though- are they called airfried chops or something?

It's on the food channel, on Sunday mornings and repeated on Wednesday evenings. Just before it there's another program, "Low Carb and Lovin it" and that one addresses the low carb craze. Calorie Commando is about taking your favorite foods and slimming down the calories and fat while keeping the taste. Both programs just started this season, and this Sunday morning will be their third programs.

Yes, it's called air-fried porkchops. They are absolutely divine.

Sunday mornings I have church and Wednesday nights we have soccer, so I'll let my MIL know about it. I'll ask her to look for good recipes for me on the low-carb show, too.

Karrie,

Well, they always have the recipes online if you want to take a look. Or don't, if you don't. Then there's always the vcr, right! Anyway, good program for anyone serious about losing weight and/or being healthy. Food tv has come up with an interesting lineup. Last night Alton Brown also had programs back-to-back (3 hours, I think) and not only did he have a wonderful show about strawberries (some really interesting recipes) but a great show about bananas too, and like some of the others here....I'm all for making healthy ice cream sorbet, etc....not to mention, using up those browning bananas. I have the core to my ice cream freezer in the freezer right now, and tonight I'm going to give Alton's recipe for banana ice cream a shot! But you do what you want to do. This is fun, is all. And I want to thank Forte for suggesting the food network, because I hardly ever watched it before reading her posts. Now I'm hooked. And I'm wondering what Calorie Commando will come up with this Sunday.

If you have a vcr or dvd, tape it if you want to. Also if you look at the food tv website you can get the recipes for shows which have already aired. I think the ones for these two shows are available limited time only, though. Some of the other programs keep their recipes online for a while, but I noticed Calorie Commando's state "limited time availability."

Hi Astri,

Yup, I'm with you on that. I liked Calorie Commando's first show, but as for the second he used pre-pack ingredients in BOTH the tiramisu AND the mac and cheese and I came away thinking, gosh I hope THAT'S not gonna be a pattern. Healthy means, or should mean, finding a way to make delicious, low calorie and low fat dishes with all the taste....and without resorting to processed food. Ugh.

As for the Low Carb and Lovin It, first ya have to take the recipes and MAKE them healthy. That guy couldn't possibly dredge for fat into his dishes, now could he?

And you're welcome! BTW I've tried the banana ice cream, and the strawberry pudding recipes (since I saw those programs before) and both recipes are absolutely wonderful. If you do the nutrition breakdown, they are low cal and low fat too. Well, the banana actually has some fat to that recipe, but not that much in relation to the store-bought. And the taste(s) for both are **out of this world.** Good luck with that.

BTW, Rachael's got some pretty good things going too!! Have you seen here?

Honestly, my family watches the programs and shares the recipes with me if I'm interested. I don't like watching cooking programs. I cook in the kitchen and eat in the dining room, and the living room isn't a place I like to associate with food. (That, and I have a strict personal rule against recording t.v. programs.) Our most popular channels are the history channel and a few of the discovery channels, and sometimes TLC. But even those aren't watched with anything approaching regularity. But thank you for the suggestion.

Hi Forte,

Yes, I watch both of Rachael's programs. And was it you who mentioned her broccoli beef dish? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else, somewhere else. But I think I read a post here somewhere about it already. If not, the broccoli beef salad on the same episode as fruit soup on the 30 minute meals was so-ooo great. I do wish though that's she'd stop with those occasional low carb episodes though. I wouldn't think someone like Rachael would buckle to including fad diet stuff sometimes, but I guess anything to boost ratings and get more viewers. At least she doesn't use fat with gay abandon like most of that low carb fad. It's only once in a blue moon anyway. I can slim down those recipes, make them healthier, if I want to. Did you know (and I bet you DO) that on her $40 a day, they actually include the recipes for those!! Happy happy.
