Anyone seen it yet? I have, and even tried the pork chops which were excellent. But on the second, when he added velvetta to the mac and cheese....I had to think, what is this guy doing.

I personally don't watch TV. It rots the brain. There are fabulous recipes that can be found without staring at a box all day in a daze. Can you imagine if people spent all the time currently spent watching TV doing something constructive, like getting intentional exercise?

Whatever floats your boat, Astri.

Have a fabulous smiley day! :)

SORRY TO BUTT IN HERE.....

This was a particular recipe that was posted by ONE member of this board. Other people may not do it the same way. This is called diversity. For ANYONE to come on and say THIS is not the way you do it, the way YOU do it is WRONG, is poor form. Not deigning to eat something and alerting the entire western hemisphere about it is plain rude, stupid, and A HUGE CRY FOR ATTENTION. Children who do not receive enough attention from their parents often resort to methods to attract attention, positive OR negative.

You strongly remind me of a child who by engaging in tactics to attract attention in a negative way, will garner the attention they so desperately crave.

This is about a freakin' PIE.

So please, the next time someone posts a recipe for something, please refrain from saying 'eww' or 'that's NOT how it's done' or anything negative. If you don't like it, don't bother to respond. No one responded to my recipe in a negative manner about my Mexican Num Nums. And never would I stoop so low as to criticize someone else. Someone who was SHARING and OFFERING.

To astri/forte/kinja/hippo, I'm sorry you are so miserable that you have NOTHING to offer her besides critcism, distaste, negativity and so on and so forth. I'm sorry that you disagrre with the rest of us, and if it's not done YOUR way, it's foolish or wrong. I am sorry for whatever your parents did to you to make you like this. I am sorry for all the dicord you cause, and YOU should be sorry for the Carpal Tunnel you are causing ME.

Straighten out, fly right, and get some professional help.

Amy

You watched Food Network for three hours? Wow, I can think of a lot better things to do with my time than watch TV for 3 hours, much less TV about food. Sounds a little obsessive to me, but whatever works for you!

You have a great day!

Last night Alton Brown also had programs back-to-back (3 hours, I think) and not only did he have a wonderful show about strawberries (some really interesting recipes) but a great show about bananas too,

Astri, did you catch Calorie Commando yesterday? I missed both programs, so I'll try to catch them mid-week. I did see Rachael on Saturday though, and if you didn't then you may want to check online because she had some really wonderful things for picnics. Very interesting.

You're absolutely right, Astri. At the beginning of "Low Carb and Lovin' it" they even acknowledge that it's generally considered a "fad diet."

Top of the morning to you!

Jess,

Too bad, because one way to lose weight *and actually keep it off* is by watching cooking shows and picking up on new *healthier* recipes. But, as you say, "to each his own." Personally, I think food network has one of the best programming lineups around. And where you live cable may be $40 a month, and hence you prefer not to get it, but it's not that costly everywhere (cheaper than Internet access, even snail dialup) and in some areas you can't even get local programming without cable or dish.

Anyway, Astri didn't say you *had to* get cable. She only asked if anyone here watched the new programs on the cooking network which are devoted to (a) low fat, low calorie, or (b) low carb. And since this is a *weight loss* board, seems a fair topic!

Have a good one.

Coffee Bean,

No, Astri is not mistaken. I do not *support* a low carb diet. In fact, I think Atkins et al are very unhealthy, and obviously the AMA, American Dietetics Association, et al also think so.

Next time, before you *choose to speak for me* why not just ***ask me***.....Appreciate it. Astri was correct, and she generally seems on target about healthful eating....so no surprise there.

STOP USING THE *'S

IF YOU MUST USE THEM FOR QUOTES USE WHAT IS CORRECT AND PROPER

JUST AS BAD AS A DOUBLE NEGATIVE
