Anyone seen it yet? I have, and even tried the pork chops which were excellent. But on the second, when he added velvetta to the mac and cheese....I had to think, what is this guy doing.

Karrie,

Thank you for noticing. I use *** because **I** want to, which is to say....to please me. That's **ALL** that's important. It's **MY** choice. If you don't like it, you're free not to read mine. That's **your** choice.

Top of the morning to you!

It is fast becoming annoying. It also does nothing more than show a lack of education.

By all means continue to use them, just be prepared for the facetious comments.

"Too bad, because one way to lose weight *and actually keep it off* is by watching cooking shows and picking up on new *healthier* recipes."

This sentence assumes SO much. First, it assumes that I've been having difficulty losing weight and keeping it off. I haven't. Second, it assumes that I cook on a regular basis. I don't. And finally, even if this were a helpful way to lose weight and maintain that weight loss, it's not the ONLY way, and I simply choose to do other things to continue and maintain MY weight loss. Like exercising. A lot. So while you're cooped up in your living room, burning calories at a snail's pace so you can learn how to cut 100 calories out of a recipe, I'll be working out at the gym, and burning six times that many calories in 90 minutes.

Have a super day Forte!

I think you're wrong: she didn't make personal assumptions about you at all. And, fact is fact, the cooking programs are both interesting and informative and they do show healthier alternatives. You don't have to "have difficulty" (as you say) losing weight to benefit from Calorie Commando who shows alternative ways to make typical high fat foods like fried pork chops or mac and cheese and tiramisu. And the changes he makes aren't all that obvious. Same with that low carb guy, though he uses far too much fat. It's still possible to take his basic ideas, and then take all the fat garbage he puts into a meal out of a meal....and come up with original food. No one said you had to watch, or even consider, any of these new programs on the food network. Someone just started this thread to talk about low fat eating, and the programs on food tv which can help a dieter. And, to my mind at least, that sure beats a thread about a hamster, a rat in a child's closet, loathing of "thin people" or some of the other threads of late. At least this one offers some suggestions which may help those of us looking for new dinner suggestions. If that doesn't apply to you, oh well, it's your choice whether to read the thread or take a pass on it. I notice, you opened it and read on though.

Forte,

I think the program now repeats not only on Wednesday, but on Friday. You may want to check their website. I had the tv on Sunday for both shows, but then I was out late Saturday and I was so tired that I really didn't pay much attention. I too will have to catch it later. Glad to see, at least a few people are interested in it.

Foreplay, you are such a hypocrite.

>>Too bad, because one way to lose weight *and actually keep it off* is by watching cooking shows and picking up on new *healthier* recipes. But, as you say, "to each his own."<<

Well, Einstein, ANOTHER way is to do low carb, or low fat, vegetarian, whatever.

So, what happened to 'simply counting calories' ? And 'if you take in more calories than you need, you will gain weight' ?

Sorry, but sitting on your lily pad all day watching cooking shows is rather inconducive to losing weight. Where do you get time for your walks in the forest ?

Oh, you have TiVo, don't you ! That explains it.
