Anyone seen it yet? I have, and even tried the pork chops which were excellent. But on the second, when he added velvetta to the mac and cheese....I had to think, what is this guy doing.

Doesn't anyone READ anymore ? Or think for themselves ?

How about reading a good book on nutrition ( I can recommend one if you like)and make choices for yourself ?

After all, it is about 'choices', isn't it ?

I bet it's the turning of the pages that prevent them from reading...it's hard to do when your taking long nature walks ;o)

"fact is fact, the cooking programs are both interesting"

That's not a fact, that's an opinion . . . and certainly not one I share!

"and informative and they do show healthier alternatives."

I'll grant you that. But so what? I could read a cookbook and get the same information. I could visit a website, too. Oh, and I could visit the nutritionist at my university. Or (and this is really good), I could just use the good sense God gave me to figure out how to choose healthier alternatives!

"And, to my mind at least, that sure beats a thread about a hamster, a rat in a child's closet, loathing of 'thin people' or some of the other threads of late."

Oh, see, I MUCH prefer those threads over the passive-aggressive sniping in which you, Forte, astri, et al. engage. At least the silly, OT threads allow a group of women to forge bonds of cyber-friendship and make this board a somewhat fun place to visit now and then.

But you know, it is ironic that when someone (like Shawna) posts a healthy alternative to a recipe (key lime pie, for example), she gets lambasted by the very people who claim to be interested in, as you put it, "looking for new dinner suggestions." (May I assume you're also interested in breakfast, lunch, and dessert suggestions as well, or just dinner?) Is that hypocrisy? aggressiveness? or just plain idiocy? Whatever it is, it's a game that's gotten real old, real fast. I've said it at LEAST a couple of times before--if you think the threads on this board detract from its purpose, DO SOMETHING about it, or don't complain. We all know the old saying: "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."
