I worked for CPS when I was in college, and was reading a case file on one teenager who gave birth at the age of 13. She gave her daughter the first name of Minnie and the middle name of Mouse. The child was later re-named by her adoptive parents. A friend from high school named her son Deezan Bailey. I also knew a girl named Memory. She married a man whose last name is Trick. So her name is now Memory Trick. Personally, I would have kept my maiden name!

Rely - I used to have an Aisling in the preschool class I used to teach. I'd forgotten about it until now, but I loved it!

And I used to have a good friend named Stormie.

I had this conversation with my cousin today. Names we agree that we dislike intensely....

Hortense and Hortensia

Antoinette (just something about it grates on me, though I love the name Antonia...go figure)

and

Heloise

Note- I don't know anyone with any of those names, and if one of them is yours or someone you loves, please don't be offended. lotsa people dislike my name too.

oh yeah, you reminded me that i knew of a woman who just had a baby and couldn't think of a name and was reading something in the hospital when she saw something that caught her eye for a name....he baby's name A-nal....now that's bad....

also knew a girl named Nina (pronounced Nine -ah), she was the ninth child,

yes folks, that is child abuse!

LOL! I had a gr gr aunt named Nine (Nine-uh) too! No one ever pronounced it right.

Oh, and here are a few I dug up from my own family tree, sad to say.

Dixie Kreme (this just sounds like a brand of milk to me....)

Honna Lee (yes, just like Puff The Magic Dragon's magic land by the sea)

Duerme (this is Spanish for sleep. I dunno why this happened...he's not such a bad kid...maybe mamacita was bitter about 60 hours of labor...)

Amusing name from fictional sources....

A character in a book called Cape Cod by William Martin- Scrooby Doone.
