My name is Vikki(the spelling is thanks to my hippie parents, lol)and I'm 33 years old. I've been trying to lose weight off and on for the past 13 years and I've only gotten bigger and bigger. Now I've hit my highest weight, 310 lbs, YIKES! On top of that I've found out I have some of the typical obesity related health problems: high BP, high triglycerides, and elevated blood sugar(pre-diabetic). I recently switched to a new Family Practice M.D. because my regular one left Family Practice for Bariatric medicine, and then tried to get me onto Medifast. No offense to anyone on Medifast, but it is just not my personal idea of a realistic plan. I know that with my personal food issues, I need to begin an eating plan that can last the rest of my life.
Anyway, my new M.D. is suggesting a slow and steady change in my diet, as well as, regular excercise. At my current weight, my exercise routine is limited to walking 3 miles a day (1.5 in the a.m. and 1.5 in the p.m.). Hopefully as the weight comes off I will be able to vary my exercise more.
As you can tell by my intro, I don't have a history of sticking to a diet plan for long. I am sincerely hoping that this time will be the exception. That is why I'm here today. I believe that with support from others going through the same experiences, I can make it past the "speed bumps" that have thrown me off the weightloss road in the past.
I hope you have room on the board and in your hearts for one more!

I think you're right about taking it slow. In the past I've always been really "gung-ho" about starting a diet/weightloss plan only to give up because I over did it. This time I'm more focused on actually sticking with it for the long run. Having a place like this board to come to is really going to help me with that.
