One participant (Jim) did lose 134 pounds. He went from 360 pounds to 234. He's still overweight, and he probably won't continue to lose the next, oh, forty pounds as quickly as he lost the first 134. That shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. (The next biggest loser lost 98 pounds, and probably has about 20 pounds left to lose.)
What's far more interesting is HOW Jim lost the weight, or more specifically, the amount of exercise he did during the Challenge. He wasn't farting around on walks along the beach or shopping till he dropped and counting those activities as substantive exercise. He was hitting the gym five to six times a week. You burn a lot more weight cycling, running, swimming, and lifting weights than you do trying on shoes and slacks at Nordstrom or admiring pretty shells on the seashore.
