I saw my doctor today, about WLS surgery

I talked to my doc today about weight loss surgery. We talked about her filling out forms for the insurance company, but she was pretty honest and said she didn't think I would be approved; I don't have enough health problems, I'm just fat. Okay, she didn't say that about the fat, just said I'm too healthy. SHe also said she hated to see someone as healthy as me and as young as me (haven't heard that in a while! - 41) go through the surgery. We talked about the expensive medically supervised program, and she asked why I couldn't do the program but have her supervise me, and not pay as much as the program costs, just buy their products. I really think I will lose if I do the program, so I'm going to do this for now. Maybe I'll weigh in once a week or something, and have it documented in my chart there. I did get on the scale today; so much for waiting a week, I made it one day!! LOL! But, I was down 3 pounds. I know it is fluid and all that, but I don't care; the scale was down! Now if I get on it tomorrow and it is up, I can't get upset. I think I'll see a trend.
I was a little hungry this morning when I went to bed, but not too bad. I had a shake from the program, and that got me to sleep.
I'm still excited about the program; I say this every time I start a new diet or weight loss progrm, but I'll say it again; I think it is going to work this time. :)
Have a great day, everyone!

It doesn't hurt to say that it's going to work, even if you have said it before. It helps to motivate you, but you have to make it work. You know there will be ups and downs, but you CAN make it. This program might just be what you were needing. That's the key...actually finding the thing that will work for you. If it ends up not working, then that means that there is something better for you out there.
I congratulate you on being considered healthly even if you are overweight, as well. That is a great thing! You are blessed not to have the health problems that go along with obesity, but you probably already know that. It's also really great that your doctor is willing to work with you at this and is so supportive.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in your adventure, and remember that we are all here for you.

As a person who avoids surgery like the plague, I'd really encourage you to think very carefully about that. But then, it's *your* body and I'm sure *you have* thought long and hard and made the decision you *want* to make. So I'll say, take care and good luck.
