I think most diets start to fail right around where you are--close enough to goal to taste it and for some reason motivation slips right at the same time that weight loss naturally slows. Those last 10-20 lbs are a bitch because your bod just does,'t want to give em up--it is saving you from yourself :). My tricks to keep my motivation up are pretty silly, but they work for me. The first is a pedometer--I have heard it said that you must walk the equivalent of four miles a day just to maintain your weight--over that you start to lose. I wear this freaking pedometer everywhere and it makes me happy to see how far I have walked in a day---I am not talking exercise walking, just regular going about my day movement. They are really cheap and might help put things in perspective mentally. The other thing I do is use my treadmill while I am watching tv at night. I LOVE TV, I will admit it--I am a junkie! But, somehow using that time that I would otherwise be lounging to actually get in some exercise makes me feel less guilty about my addiction. Through the years I have realized that just moving my body is the most important part of the equation for me. YOu will get there, I have no doubts about it. But getting discouraged is just going to prolong getting there---get pissy (I sometimes pick a fight with my husband so I can get mad enough to tear around the house cleaning for an hour--just kidding :) Good luck!

Wanna try my diet? I'm losing consistently still...email me at msn if you want. I'm going to read this thread and reply more. Just wanted to let you know I'm here.

Editing now.......

Well! That was an interesting read! If I had a webcam I would be able to demonstrate what I think of certain posts.

Shawna, I sent Mel a copy of my diet...and I posted it here, too, a few pages back.

I'll send it you you at home, and we'll chat.

Love,

Amy

Shawna, I so desperately want to come up with some great tips that will help....but it's really hard for me to do that right now (but of course you know that since my novel sized email)......I've read alot of posts from people though that are stuck at the last twenty pounds.

Watchthefurfly,

Your "re-write" was unneeded. I said what I meant, the way I intended it, the first time around. Of course, if you want to write *your own* post to her, feel free to do so anytime. In other words, thanks but NO THANKS.

If you *think* my post breaks any rules, report it. Otherwise, take your own advice.

You wrote:

>>Oh, get a life and quit trying to steal Shawna's. Like she doesn't already know your opinion. It's pathetic to keep flogging the subject - I think this kind of behaviour is known as "cyber stalking". You're probably some spurned ex-lover of hers trying to get even.<<

And it seems to describe **your own** post to a tee.

Good day, Forte

Yes, but what you meant, and how you intended it, came across as negative and this is a SUPPORT BOARD. Can't blame a furry friend for trying to soften the blow when someone says something that seems deliberately hurtful. Most remarks seem "unneeded" by definition. In spite of several opportunities to ammend a negative attitude and cruel streak some people continue to hurt others and I find this UNNEEDED too.

We've been saying "Thanks, but no thanks" to a particular brand of snide, highhanded, sarcastic, cruel, and hurtful post for quite a while now, but doesn't seem to do us any good. Don't expect your "request" will get too many miles either.

You've already gotten a lot of great advice, and I don't have much more to add to it. I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you. I'll say an extra prayer. Hang in there! You're an inspiration.
