WOW, thanks! What a nice thing to say!

Hey, there are days that I'm like "Ahh, $hit, I really don't feel like exercising!" I'd rather read a book, nap, or just screw-off. I really wish I could be more like Denise Austin! She got me started, you know. She is so friggin' peppy and happy. She must really be producing the endorphins from all that exercise (either that or she has a serious coke habit!). I do Gilad now because he is more challenging and not as "dancey". I get to where I hate dancey. I had to stop the Kathy smith weightloss workout because I felt so dorkey doing it. Like I said, what's with her stupid cinematography? Those goofy gestures...ACK!

So for now I do the Step & Tone 3-4days and Denise's Fat burning blast (both 20 min workouts on one tape) on the other days. I take one day off (hey, even God took a day off!) I'll do that until my Gilad's Quick Fit system comes in the mail.

Shawna,

I know how frustrated you must be. I was on Atkins a year ago and did really well, but I really missed the carbs and found it too restrictive for me. I know South Beach is pretty popular and is low carb, not as strict as Atkins, because I do believe they allow more fruit. Fruit is my downfall too. I started by eating healthy and have dropped about 12 pounds. The key is to get your snacks in, but make them healthy ones. I love yogurt and banannas with pb. I think there are many similarities between WW and eating healthy. It is all about portion control. I only eat whole wheat grains, no more than 3 servings a day. I use light dressings or no dressings at all. If I want regular ranch, I only use a tablespoon. Of course there is the water. I really do think this weight loss thing is behavioral too. I really think you gotta get to the core of why you want the foods you want. Dr. Phil's book is excellent and really works through those issues. I think keeping a journal is awesome. I haven't done it, but I think that has been my big problem. I think if you can keep track of what you eat that would really me change my ways. In Phil's book he has a diet plan that gives you sample menus. I don't think his plan is any different than any healthy eating plan out there. It is hard when you think you know how, but you really don't. Don't know if that makes sense. He calls for 3 servings of protein a day and like all other plans say as well as his protein satifies or fills you up. Gotta have dairy 2-3 times a day. Calcium just does wonders for a body, tons of studies popping up on that. Of course water too. Have you talked to a doctor? Sometimes they can be insightful. The problem I have is I don't like to deprive myself, but haven't really found a balance. I tend to go over board, that's why I want to try WW. Hope some of what I said makes sense. I have tried dieting several times in my life and just learned these things along the way. Hang in there and don't give up! Heather

hey Crystal,

i've seen where they've condemed/put down people and where they have made ok posts. I don't think they have a thing against 'fat people' they are just rude.

I disagree that all they post is 'the truth' i mean who cares, some things don't need to be said. And the manner in which some things are said are out of line.

I agree some people like the drama, you can tell them because they always respond even to the ok posts by being rude themselves. I personally 'try' not to respond to a few people on the board because they take things the wrong way and i don't care to read what they say and caus more *drama*.

I also agree about the whole thing on not using astericks,i just shook my head and thought *childish*. How people can think that they can dictate how people will type is beyond me.

You're known to speak your mind, i won't hold it against you, i just agree to disagree with ya on certain things =)

oookaaaaay, let me spell it out a little better this time. You said in your post (which I replied to):

< against forte's post ....... he/she (sorry forte, I dont know enough about you to know your gender lol .... we've never really chatted) was only saying the truth... >>

Where on earth do you then conclude that I think that you were getting upset?

I think you're reading into posts what isn't there. Forte's post was just fine, and besides, if you find something "against the rules" then just report it instead of making a big ta-da out of every little thing. I think these constant attacks on Forte, and on me for that matter....get a little ridiculous.

Yesterday I actually DID watch Dr. Phil (I'm recovering from some oral surgery, an impacted tooth or some-such) and thus I've had a lot of time on my hands but haven't been up and around much this week. Anyway, if some of you didn't watch yesterday's show (and I'm betting "none" of you did), then you should have. It was a show about "is this abnormal" and various people apparently wrote in to Dr. Phil to ask if their abnormal behavior WAS indeed abnormal.

One woman, who was obese BTW, said she had a "hobby" of tearing people down "for the fun of it." They showed a clip, and it kinda reminded me of some of the regulars here who seem to go around the board attacking Forte for no apparent reason. And me, too. For example, in one thread here I notice some "regulars" are having fun attacking my "fat butt" for watching cooking shows....noting that I sit in a chair all day, and that's why I'm so gosh-darn-fat. That gave me a little pause (not much, but a little) because it was started by watchthefurfly (the name itself denotes her purpose in posting, normally to launch into attacks). Anyway, since I've already told you ALL that I'm handicapped, wheelchair bound in fact....I had to wonder WHAT KIND OF HUMAN LIFEFORM(S) get their kicks attacking a handicapped woman who HAS TO SIT in a wheelchair all day. Doesn't watchthefurfly (and her buddies, regulars all) think I'd love to BE ABLE to get out of that wheelchair!

Anyway, I can't give that too much attention....and I want to discuss the Dr. Phil show because I think perhaps it MAY help some regulars who get their kicks "making a hobby of tearing people apart" whom "they don't even know"....just like the fat woman on television yesterday did. Here's what Dr. Phil said. He said, first of all, it's very juvenile. And he said, SNAP OUT OF IT!

He said, "it's sick and twisted" (maybe as sick and twisted as picking on a wheelchair bound handicapped woman, as watchthefurfly enjoyed doing to me). Anyway...Dr. Phil said it's a sick and twisted way of intereacting with the world, making pretty vicious commentary on others, and it needs to stop. He pointed out the underlying hostility is really a mark of low self-esteem which causes her to have to level others, to bring others down to her level. I noticed, for instance, that here regulars often criticize thin people they don't know (those faceless thin people in the world), and they criticize the people on television who have succeeded on the Dr. Phil diet (the ones on his show) and criticize him for creating the diet. And it's curious that the people HERE (forte, myself, hypolytes) who get attacked ALL seem to be more successful at their diets than the people attacking them are. I think the reason you, some of you that is, have to attack people for talking about ENJOYING the cooking network....is because there are some serious self-esteem issues going on for you. That can be fixed, but a board like this can't fix it for you. I mean, what kind of person attacks a handicapped woman for sitting in a chair? What kind of person attacks a woman on a 100 lbs board by calling her a "fat butt?" Doesn't someone like watchthefurfly (or like yourself, for that matter melody) realize that every time you attack a person for being fat (even if they are no longer fat) what you're really doing (if we look at your weight stats you give) is attacking yourself. It's not self love.

Whew! That’s a lot at one sitting. I’ll take a stab, and Furry, you feel free to as well! You do such a good job!
