Losing Weight Costs $$$ !!!

This is a rather bizarre post, but everyone is used to that by now I suppose. I had this idea of posting my shopping list from yesterday, and wondered what everyone else's shopping cart looks like(being the horrendously nosey shark that I am)and would like to debate/discuss food prices, whether processed food costs more than fresh whole foods, does anybody find it expensive to shop healthy, and does anyone enjoy grocery shopping (Or am I the only freakziod that does?)

I'll start by answering my own questions: I love to grocery shop, especially by myself. I can get it done faster, but have more time to choose, select, think without the distractions of my boyfriend. What an A$$PAIN he is to shop with. When I did Atkin's full-on, by-the-book, it seemed like I spent alot more on groceries and found myself making more trips for little crap that I ran out of. I feel it can be a bit more expensive in some ways to eat healthy, especially produce, because it's glacial in NH 9 months out of the year and the only thing that grow here are pine trees and cows. I know frozen entrees and highly procesde foods can get expensive, because you have to pay for the extra packaging, so on and so forth. I think some prices are higher for things regionally, so fill me in if this is the case. I would be interested in everyone's thoughts and what you shop for and your ideas.

***What $127.87 Got Me at the Store***

(This is for 2 adults, and generally lasts us two-three weeks, and we usually get more produce/fruit in between trips. Anything with an * next to it is an new or unusual item that I picked up just 'because'.)

Hey Amy thanks for sharing your list with us. I need to buy more things like you do, but my family won't eat it. That's one of the reasons this weight loss thing has been so hard. Husband gets cranky. Worst thing is he is also cranky about my being fat. He needs to make up his mind. Hugs, Brenda

i don't remember how long ago it was but i posted the answer to america's "fat problem" was that it was way too expensive to buy things that are good for us.

i am not sure what i get on a normal basis buut this weeks list is going to be:

turkey

dark wheat bread

cottage cheese

nanners

strawberries

soy milk

carrots

and who knows...i need to budget and go thru coupons for this.

Sometimes it is cheaper to stay fat!! lol. My main grocery staples are:

grapefruit

apples

green grapes

ff salad dressing

Low Sodium tunafish

fresh vegetables

Healthy Choices/Lean Cusines (whatever's on sale or I have a cupon for).

Soy Milk

FF Saltines

Reduced fat Peaunut Butter

Special K

eggs or egg beaters

Splenda

diet bread (only 40 calories a slice).

My bill comes to about 70-80 bucks. That's just for me!! My roomate is always working when I'm home bc she's a cop so. Plus, she's a damn 120 pound stick so she doesn't need any diet food. lol.

No kidding! I swear in the past year i have spent thousands on diets and the required foods....And now, even though I technically eat less, I swear it costs more, dammit!

Seriously, that is a major factor as to why Americans are fat. The FDA just won't admit it. They should have like a thing for food like they do for oil with OPEC. lol. I don't see why taking things out of food costs so much more money.
