Do you cook Ethnic Foods?

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are drenched in a whole lot of different cultures. I was just wondering if any of you have a flair to cook foods from other cultures. I am Mexican American, so of course those foods are in my menu. But I was with a Samoan man, and heavily drenched in that culture, so I cook Polynesian foods also. I love to Wok, do Italian Gemelli with Chicken and Sun Dried Tomatoes, and then go to the health side with some organics, Protein Smoothies and Wheat Grass Drinks. How about y'all?

I'm Chinese, so what you might consider "ethnic" is normal for me.

That said, my favourite foods are Thai, Japanese, and Vietnamese.

I definitely dabble. I love italian and mexican. I also enjoy making veggie sushi and I do all sorts of asian stir fry dishes with my trusty wok (tofu and veggies can make all sorts of wonderful things). I also make a small handful of indian dishes that are really good, really spicy, high in veggies and flavor and super low in fat. I definitely want to learn more about Indian cooking, I haven't fully mastered curry and I would really like to.

Both my parents were from the south so I still do a lot of southern cooking myself. I will always love fried chicken!! I haven't had grits and eggs since last June, just haven't had grits, had lots of eggs, lol. But I grew up in a military family so I've eaten just about everything ethnic. My dad was real big on going out for chinese food and pizza, not together. Mine and my husbands most favorite chinese resturant is on Jackson Steet in China town, SF. We both grew up in the SF Bay Area and have been introduced to many culturel foods. I personally think I can cook just about anything ethnic. We eat a lot of different foods in my household. :-) Stephanie

Wow all this talk about my homeland is making me wanna fly home for the summer lol…. Will yall go to the pier and get me some clam chowder in one of them sour dough bread bowls??? Pleaseeee??? And on the way go threw China Town and grab a duck out of the window for me to.. I’d be a happy camper =)

Well I am Mexican American also so those foods I grew up on I wouldn’t consider them ethnic… we do a lot of southern cooking DH does a lot of soul cooking but those are not really ethnic for us.. Except I usually do not do to much soul cooking …. I make a few Italian dishes… and a few others…

I am actually very handicapped when it comes down to planning new menu’s as far as meat I only do chicken and beef I am not a big pork eater and it is hard for me to try new dishes because if I don’t like the look for smell I surely wouldn’t put it near my mouth…. Okay now im hungry I think I need some food lol..
