I was recently speaking to an artist who has an exhibit called Scale Dances. It is a room filled with bathroom scales. Every single woman who walked in had a big reaction to it, much like superman has to kryptonite! In the background, the artist plays a tape of interviews of women about their scale dance - that is their ritual of weighing themselves. They ranged from weighing a bag of sugar to make sure the scale was accurate to using two scales and placing one foot on each.
I'm cuirous if any of you have a scale dance you'd like to share. I'd also be interested in knowing how it came to be and if you think it's a healthy ritual. I would share mine but I threw my scale out years ago! It drove me crazy and often had the power to ruin my day. One day I just threw my scale in the trash and it was like knocking down the Berlin Wall!
PLEASE RESPOND ALL THE WAY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE IN LIZ NEPORENT'S POSTING AREA. I'LL COLLECT YOUR STORIES AND SHARE THEM WITH THE REST OF IVILLAGE. THANKS.
Best, Liz

Every morning, I wake up, pee, strip and get on the scale. I record this as my 'official' weight for the day. If I could poop, too, that would be a bonus (but usually requires coffee)cause EVERY half a pound counts!!!!!!!
I find that I lose 1-3 pounds every night while sleeping, esp. if I don't eat after 10 p.m. The longer I sleep, the less I weigh when I wake up, and I have found that getting enough sleep is very important to weight loss. So if I slepted for a week straight I'd be dead I think.
Ok..Who's next?
