well i made me a list of foods allowed on phase 1.

Not sure if it's right for me since i've been doing ok just slowly losing. Thinking of just trying to see if i lose faster then i am now.

A few Q. if you don't mind answering..Do you eat the wheat pasta,if so where u find it? And are granola bars allowed? See that most cereal isn't but just wondered about granola bars caus i like Nature Valley Granola Bars. And i know you can eat plain yogurt but what about Vanilla low fat is that allowed? If not i may just haveta do a modified version..LOL

Whole wheat pasta - allowed in phase 2..it's available at every grocery store I've seen, next to the regular evil white pasta.

Granola bars - most have too much sugar (less than 3 grams per serving is best) and many have transfats as well.

Plain non fat yogurt is allowed in phase 1, although you can sweeten it with Splenda and extracts, cocoa powder.

As I said, I didn't do phase 1, just started off "eating healthier" and found that it was most like the SBD, so I decided to read the book and follow the maintenance phase.

If you have more questions on SBD, you're probably better off asking over at the SBD board.

I think it is a very VERY healthy way of eating, unprocessed whole grains, lean meat and dairy, and tons of veggies and fruit, avoiding sugars, saturated & transfat. If that isn't HEALTHY I don't know what is!

i agree it seems like a very healthy way of eating from what i've read. I already have implemented some of the good eating habits(like eating only lean meats,LF or NF,whole grain bread) just still eat some of the no-no's listed. I'll haveta look for the whole wheat pasta i've never seen it.

I've checked out the South Beach board a few times on here as well as well as another board just hate to post til i start it. And thanks for answering my q's =)

I've never been too concerned about the nitty gritty details. For example, you're supposed to get sugar free foods most of the time, and choose low GI veggies. Personally, I don't know anyone who has ever gotten fat from eating carrots, a high GI veggie, so I eat them anyways. I do limit potatoes and corn somewhat. Also have never followed the less than 3 grams of sugar rule. Example: grocery store bought BBQ chicken. Don't know what's in the sauce, but if I'm eating it with a pile of oven roasted olive oil veggies, a dab of sugar in the sauce won't kill anyone. Just avoid processed foods and you'll be fine. Other things I've never given up: butter, real sugar (used in small amounts), coffee, ice cream, real chocolate.

I worked out for 2 years with no results and eating whatever I wanted before I started cutting portions and eating closer to SBD WOE...and that was when the pounds just fell off.

Don't let anyone tell you that SBD is low carb - phase 1 seems like it, but you get TONS of carbs in your daily vegetables.

Edited to say: I've never given up alcohol either :P
