He's been suffering for a long time- he's better now. I guess I'm not sad he passed away. Being trapped in your own mind must be a terrible burden.

I personally didn't know much about Reagan that I didn't learn in school. Moving here to Dixon has given me a non-textbook appreciation. There are people here who knew him. One man on Dement Avenue has a statue of him in his lifeguard uniform from when he worked to save money for college. He's credited with saving 77 lives while lifeguarding here at Lowell Park. (We'll be visiting there if you want, Furry) There's a lot of emphasis on his personal contributions as a young man, and then his achievements later. I find the personal touches endearing, and I think it gives the people who live here, or who learn about his life pre-Hollywood and politics, a better insight.

I'm sad as well, and I hope there is a town memorial service. I will be attending.

When I found out that you lived in Dixon - his boyhood home I immediately wrote and told you I wanted to visit the home and have my picture taken on the steps.

Yes, I too am saddened by his passing; but as furrie said we lost him years ago, that's when the sorrow began. Sorrow, first for him and his family; but sorrow for us as a nation. We lost a good man, a statesman, with a decency and humor not found much today.

Furry- looks like there will be a memorial, I just don't know if it will be before you come. In any event, we can still go to the museum.

i was listening to the news this morning and i just cried. he was an amazing man and even looking at the old news you could see the charisma he had.

i heard it said that he was the most beloved president and i am agreeing.
