Water?

I appologize in advance if this turns out to be dribble. My depression has been really causing havoc in my life lately and I've taken double the dose of my sleeping pill in hopes to sleep it off. I have eaten myself out of house and home lately and I haven't done any real exercise in two weeks. The good thing is I appear to be maintaining within 3#s. I need to get back on track and have decided to start with my water intake. Problem is I don't know for sure how much to drink. I read somewhere to drink half your body weight in ounces. That's 135oz.. Is this right? How do you get anything else done besides drinking and going to the bathroom? I've been working real hard to try and drink at least 64oz. daily. Is this not enough? I bought an insilated cup that holds 64oz. and Drinking on that all day seems to work. Today it was really warm so I've drank ~90oz of water today plus 24oz of Sonic limeaide. I do better when it's warm outside. How do you keep it up in the winter? Anyone have any suggestions as to how and drink more?

I have a hard time getting all my water in too, I think it is probably the one thing I have the biggest problem with! I don't really know what the right amount of water is, I've heard so many different opinions on this (the 1/2 body weight and 64 oz being the most common). Personally I aim for a minimum of 64 oz and anything more is great. Some of the things I do to drink more are using a straw (for some reason I can drink more when I use a straw) and breaking it up into smaller amounts. For example, 8 oz isn't that much, so I may do something like 8 oz before a meal, 8 oz during the meal, and 8 oz between meals.

HTH!

I usually aim for 64 oz of water (but don't always reach it lol!). I've heard of the half your body weight thing, too, but personally I don't think that's necessary unless you're really active. I find it easier to get my water in when I'm at work. I just have a bottle at my desk and sip it all day. But at home on the weekends is a different story. We're always running around doing stuff, and I usually forget to drink my water until it's too late to get it all in for the day, so I just try to get in what I can. Drinking water at mealtimes seems to help. I drink a lot when I eat, so why not make it water? HTH.

Wow! Your'e drinking more than me, and I thought I was the resident camel! What you are drinking is a great start, and it's important to stay hydrated in the winter as well.

I can sympathize with you about the eating and sleeping it off...but honestly, it just puts the problem on the back burner and you will need to deal with it in your own time...

My thanks to everyone's responses. I'm glad I don't have to drink 135oz. I don't think I ever could. I am using a straw and I do drink more when I do. I also drink water with my meals. I'll have to try the gum idea. Thanks again ! Hugs, Brenda

Furry you are amazing! I starte with my 64oz cup and hopefully will be able to increase from there. You think it helps clear your skin? That would be great. I've got more acne at 36 than I ever did at 15. Thanks. Hugs, Brenda

Brenda...

When my mom first was diagnosised with diebates her dietian told her to get in about 64 plus ounces a day. She also explained that tea is considered a water especially decaf.

I do that constantly. At work I will go brew some decaf flavored tea with no sugar and slam about 16 ozs at a time
