i am going to go get the book she published last year that had her and reagan's love letters in it.
you can tell that they loved each other very much. i just want to somehow show her that she is loved as well.
i remember watching on tv when he got shot and when after he was sworn in they broke the news the hostages were coming home. reaganomics and other policies are still in play now and working. it amazes me how anyone can say he wasn't a great president and our most beloved
Long time no see!! How's it goin? (And, BTW, I couldn't agree with you MORE). Nancy Reagan is a remarkable woman, and what she and her *Ronnie* had (have) was so special. My heart was just aching for her during the ceremony yesterday. Politically, I was never a big Reagan supporter during his Presidency, but history will evaluate in due time and I DO think he, and the American people, and his family deserve full respect during this time of our *mutual* national mourning. This morning I drove by a German-American business which always flies flags from both countries. I'm a German-American, and I found it particularly offensive that the American flag was flying at full staff next to the German flag. I'm not the kind of person to make a fuss about such things, normally, but I did feel compelled to stop my car, go in, and remind them to lower the flag in respect. And I feel this is ESPECIALLY so since Reagan did so much for Germany, for Germans all over the world (even those of us merely of German descent who were born Americans). The man did what NO ONE ELSE could do....HE (and he alone) brought down the wall. And for that by itself, no matter what your political feelings about Reagan (democrat, republican, or other) THIS PRESIDENT absolutely MUST be honored at his death! Anyway, there's my personal soap box concerning Reagan. I feel so sorry for Nancy, for her family, and I really think this guy Bush (summit or no) should have met her plane (grrr).
I'm not much for funerals, but when his funeral takes place Friday....of course, i'll be watching and mourning the passing of a GREAT man!
me no worry about it. i enjoy history a lot and got more and more into it because my brother and i can bond over it. and you are right i am sure that many people have different meanings.l i wasn't brought up going to funerals like that...it was a week long event with a viewing, funeral then burial. maybe because they were all military.
I was a kid too when Reagan was in office and he is my first memory fo president . I would love to hear how you liek the book Karrie , theirs was a love of a lifetime something we all dont have....makes one believe there is somoene out there for everyone . :)
eta..yesterday I think it was on GMA they wewre talking about the amazing love affaor they had / When the disease had taken his mind but not yet his body he stopped on a strangers lawn and picked a flower the secret service or whomever they were told him he couldnt do that it wasnt his lawn..but he remembered the love and he said "but I want to give this to my lady" omg I cried...ok Im crying again..OH TO BE LOVED SO MUCH!!!
that is one of the reasons i love to watch W and Laura.
i really get a kick out of the fact he will look up and wink at her when he is giving the state of the union.
it also is a great reminder that no matter what troubles life throws at you commitment and the love that comes from that can be successful...take that divorce lawyers.

I agree that President Reagan was a very good, very powerful man.

i believe his steadfastness and refusal to back down for any reason showed the other dignitaries that it can be done.
