Do you have room for one more?
My name is Megan (hi Megan!).
I'm 29, almost 30 (EEK!). I'm married to Jason for almost 5 years (EEK! EEK!), and we have two adorable girls, Bridget who is 4, and Molly Rose, who is 15 months old. I'm a law school graduate, but Bridget came my last year of law school, and has put a detour in my career goals. I currently do child support enforcement for a county here in Minnesota (ya, you betcha!), and have applied recently for a job training legal software. We'll see if that pans out.
When I started law school I was about 185lbs. By the time I finished law school in June of 2000, I was nearly 240lbs (granted, I was 2 months postpartum, but still). My father became ill with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease in 1997, and died in October 2000, just 5 days after I had found out I failed the bar exam for the first time. At that time I was working as a student prosecutor, hired on the contingency that I pass the bar exam, which I foolishly thought would be a no-brainer. I took the bar exam a second time in February 2001, and failed by one, yes one point. It was quite a blow. In the meantime my daughter Bridget was in and out of the hospital with asthma, pneumonias and recurrent ear infections. My youngest has followed suit.
I've spent the better part of the last 4 years in and out of hospitals with my girls, and in the hospital myself for bedrest with my 2nd pregnancy (thanks pre-eclampsia!). I just found out that I have PCOS, which is part to explain why I have blossomed to 286lbs. I joined weight watchers one week ago. i've done the program before, and been successful. I tried a few times in the last year with NO success whatsoever (I had no motivation, or anything). Now I'm staring down the barrel of the diabetes gun, and I want to stop it before I kill myself.
I had a 4.6lb week one loss. My own personal goal is I want to get one of those cool 10% keychains. That means 28lbs for me. I CAN do it. But I'd like to post here for help, support, and friendship.
Do you have room for one more? Thanks in advance!! :)

My name is Mel- I'm 26, mom to Ramey and Rina (8 and 6) and my husband Rob and I have been together for almost 5 years (June 24 will be the 5th anniversary of our first date). I also have PCOS, and hypothyroidism. I do a low-carb diet because I find it's the only weigh I am successful at losing weight. (the insulin resistance that accompanies PCOS bites). Have you talked to your dr. about a particular way of eating that could maximize your weight loss results?
I would love to chat- you can email me at
