I am sure many of us have tried more than one diet in the past before finding the one that worked.

Someone no longer on the board mentioned a while back how s/he just lost weight by determining the appropriate number of calories for his/her height and age, and then ate AS IF s/he were aleady at the healthy weight. For example, if you are 5ft7in female and a normal weight would be 145 lbs, and the normal number of calories (av. activity level) to maintain that weight would be 1,576 per day, then this person would eat 1,576 calories per day (although weighing much more currently) in order to get to that point. I think that's one way to go about it! In other words, eat as though you're at a good weight and simply want to keep it. That way, you lose until you get there and stop losing when the proper weight for the proper calories is reached....and it's not about diet, but just about eating normally for the normal weight.

I guess that I've been doing pretty much that all along, without articulating it as such. Basically, I just started eating properly. And I've been doing it for some time, and actually enjoying myself along the way.

Good luck on your journey.

Fred Anderson, author of From Chunk To Hunk ate like that, and exercised how he thought a healthy man should exercise and lost over 100 pounds.

That is actually a really good idea...I think that's what my dietician had been thinking as welll. My calories are supposed to be in a range of 1300 to 1500 and I'm not much of an excersiser, but I have been losing and I think I'll lkevel off and maintain at this weght with my calories and activity level. I just never thought of it from that aspect - good bit of knowledge to have!

Thanks,

Amy
