fresh vegetables from your own gardens (or container gardens) yet? We have wonderful tomatoes....and it's so GREAT to have tomatoes that taste like tomatoes, instead of those tasteless things found in the grocery stores for so long! We have eggplant, tomatoes, peppers...all kinds of peppers...and for breakfast this morning I savored an omelet with fresh herbs....basil and dill, and some others....and a fresh tomato still warm from the vine! Oh, I love summertime.

Anyone else having fun with your own gardens?

I live in a condo, so no garden for me, but in Boston we have a place called HayMarket where all the local farmers come and sell their freshly picked produce super cheap (12 oranges for $1!). It tastes so good. I had some of the best fruits and vegetables in my life there. Linda, you Northern Bostoner....do you ever go to HayMarket.

I have this awesome little rosemary bush that grows in a pot in my kitchen, a basil plant that I bought at the grocery store that I hope will stay alive for a while, and in the flower beds out back we have these two huge chive plants. I found some cherry tomatoes at the store that were grown in Mexico and came in this little mesh bag, and they were SO GOOD I ate them on the way out of the store. There is a local farm that has really incredible stuff, so in the summer I stop there, and they also have cows. The babies run around and get into stuff and I like to play with them. Nothing's cuter that a baby cow.

No, I've never actually shopped at Haymarket, but I didn't realize the produce was that cheap! 12 oranges for a dollar? I'll have to check it out!

I love Haymarket, and you can just walk under 93 into the North End...fab little Italian delis behind the big liquor store...Trashy and Linda - have either of you eaten at the Continental restaurant? *squeak!*

My favorite place lately is in the produce section of the grocery store in front of the peaches, plums and nectarines. I stood there the other day for about five minutes getting high on the fragrance. Made me want to fall face first in them and just EAT.

(What doesn't want to make me eat?)

My garden is only giving me lettuce and herbs as of now. I'm in NJ, so things take a while to ripen here (in the northern part, that is). But, the broccoli is looking good, as are the cucs. Can't wait.

My herbs are doing their job so far(yummy sage, basil, parsley, and thyme),and I am watching my tomatos and hot peppers flower. This was my first attempt at gardening...so I didn't plant a whole lot.I've already got ideas for making my garden bigger next year though, and I can't wait.I'm also nurturing a lovely pumpkin plant and hope to get a few pumpkins for the fall holidays =)

Well, we've just started enjoying our tomatoes and soon we should be able to enjoy our sweet banana peppers, cucumbers, summer squash, and green peppers. My parents have a much larger spread than we do. They have double of all the veggies we have plus Silver Queen corn, and I think they'll be planting potatoes, green beans, and watermelon. I suspect my mother and I will be canning before long.
