New to the board...
| Wed, 06-23-2004 - 11:25am |
Hi, I just wanted to say that I am new to this board and find it very inspiring. I lurk around a bit on this board and Weight Watchers. I am currently doing Weight Watchers, and I have about 110 lbs to lose. I have lost 10 so far, I began Weight Watchers about a month ago. I am enjoying it a lot. I try to surround myself with support, from books, to things online, friends, and family with the same goals. I hope to be an inspiration to others some day. Anyway, I just wanted to say "Hi" and introduce myself, look forward to meeting others on this board with the same goal that I have.
Happy Thoughts,
Misty

Congrats on your weight loss so far. WW is a good program. Afew of the other ladies use it so there are plenty of people to get advice from if you need it.

I read that quote from Gandhi and it really spoke to me. I have spent so much time thinking "I can't" in my life and missed out on a lot of things. Now I tell myself to "just do it" and the longer I keep going the easier it'll get. (Did that make a lick of sense?)
On the diet front, I’m keeping it super simple. This is my umpteenth time of trying to lose weight. I tried to make this time around easier to stick to. I figure just sticking to it is more important to me than how fast I lose weight. First thing I did was completely cut fast food out of my life. My family and I are always busy and we started eating out three to four times a week just to avoid the time and mess of cooking. And of course I always ate everything super-sized. Second thing I did was cut out a few high sugar foods:candy, cookies, white breads. I still eat potatoes, carrots, whole grain pastas & breads and any fruit I want so I'm not a full fledged low-carber. I try to eat a balance of carbs and protein at every meal and cut fat, calories, and sugar wherever I can. I don't starve though. I eat until I'm full at every meal. Funny thing is that now that I'm eating healthier it takes less to fill me up. For exercise I walk 1.5 miles in the early morning and another 1.5 miles after dinner Monday through Friday. On the weekends I give myself a break. My mom just gave me a couple of exercise tapes and I am going to try working them in starting next week.
I started out on this diet plan and on this board about a month, maybe a month and a half ago. My starting weight was 310 lbs. and as of this morning I am at 293. I think the initial weight loss is due to just getting off the fast food. Lord knows I was getting about 1200 calories just from one meal at Wendy's. I'd like to reach 150lbs. someday down the road. I'm 5'4", and should weigh around 130-145 according to the weight charts I've seen, but 150 just seems more "me".
Well, I have probably bored ya to tears. Sorry about that, lol.
Take care and by all means use that quote :)
