Hi Melody,

I am new to this website/board but when I saw your post I was so happy. I don't know anything about you going back to school, but congratulations!

I recently earned my associates in science (as) and also my associates in arts (aa) and I am so happy.

I started back to school a long time after I graduated from high school and just completed my pre-reqs for the nursing program and am waiting to see if I get in or not. Keeping my fingers crossed though.

You may want to review some of math books and maybe some English writing skills before your test. I was too lazy and ended up placing in a low level of English and spent a semester in a lame class - but I did learn somethings so I guess it was not a complete waste.

Good luck on your assesment testing. Also, I dont know if you are going to a community college, but it sounds like you may need/want financial aide. See if your college has a "BOGW" (board of governers waiver). Where I live (in Southern CA) if you qualify for that, you get all of your units for only $10 (typically they are $18 PER UNIT) and you get a discount (50%) on parking. I qualified (since I dont work)and was able to take 10 units, pay for parking (normally $40) and health and student service fees for only $30! Normally it would have been over $230.

Mel, you'll do great! I went back to school quite a few years after high school and loved it. I think it's great when anyone goes back to school. I've thought of taking some more classes even though I graduated nine years ago. It's never too late to go back! I think it's great and I know you're going to love it (well, it will be a love/hate relationship lol, but it will all be worth it).

Good luck! And if you get a calculator for mathematics, get a Texas Instruments SCIENTIFIC type calc, not a graphic one. It will say on it which is which. they are about 8-10 dollars and I abused mine in chemistry a couple years ago, Love it. now it is just to balance the checkbook....

Big Sharky Hug!

Yeah, Mel! You're going to do just fine. Don't sweat those assesment tests. Honestly, I did poorly on my math assesment. I had to take remedial courses, but ended up aceing them and later college algebra. Now I'm a bonafide math geek, lol. It's funny because I barely passed the math and science courses in HS and now in college those are my best subjects.

College is a great experience. I'm lovin it and I think you will, too.

Oh, and Mel, I just wanted to add that just by reading your posts, I can tell that you're a very smart person and you will have no problems in school. I think it's wonderful that you're going back! Isn't it wonderful when dh supports you like that? My dh was VERY supportive when I was going to school, and I swear that when I graduated, he was more proud of me than a parent is when their own child graduates. He was beaming the whole day. I'm sure Rob will be the same way.

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner- I'm helping Billie move this week, and I've been painting her new place with her.

I couldn't sleep well the night before my test, and I was really nervous about taking it.
