Hello..can't remember if I posted this or not...sharing it with another board, too.

I was Border's last week (what a surprise - my fantasy is being accidentally locked in the store all night) and picked up a couple of books, one of which is new - (C)2004 - and it is a paperback called "The Weight Loss Diaries: A Tale of Binges, Guilt, Fat days, New-Me Shopping Sprees, Exercise, More Binges AND...How I Learned to Deal with My Lifelong Weight Loss Struggle"....

Pantpantpant....DEEP BREATH...By Courtney Rubin, Shape magazine's former 'Weight Loss Diary' columnist.

Ok....I need to rest now.

I saw that one today, but didn't pick it up. Probably because I already had a arm full of books, lol. Make sure to post what you think of it. If it sounds good I'll pick it up next time.

Hi everyone. I am just joining this forum, and actually just signed up for Curves today. I haven't gone looking yet, but just out of curiosity, what are these books about, and which section would they be in? They both sound very interesting and I'd like to check them out. Also, if anybody has any weight loss tips they would like to share, I'd love to hear them. I am 5'1 and weigh 232lb. I would like to get down (eventually) to between 125 and 130. I am 36 years old. I hope to meet some people in my situation who need (as I do) support and encouragement.

Hello Wingnut, Welcome! Good luck with curves. I currently weigh 273 and want to weigh 135. I am also 36yo. I've got another book for you that the girls suggested before. It's called "The fat girls guide to life" by Wendy Shanker. I'm about half way through it. It is very enlightening. I bought this book at barnes and noble on-line. The only weight loss tip I have so far is drink your water and lots of it. Take care.

Hugs, Brenda

Hi All !

For those of you that are new, these books are about being fat, struggles, vistories, tips on how to deal with people who question you about your size, misconceptions, studies about obesity, truths and lies about being fat, and so on.

1. 'The Fat Girls Guide to Life' by Wendy Shanker

(Shawna recommended it to me and I loved it!)

2. 'FAT!SO?' by Marilyn Wann

(My personal life-changing bible. Even though I still lost weight, it really helped

get my head and facts together. If you can't find it in the bookstore, they or

Amazon.com will)

3. 'The Weight Loss Diaries' by Courtney Rubin

(If you have any semblance of an eating disorder, binge, or bounce back and forth

between the same 15 pounds, this is the biik for you. Her whining got a little

old towards the end, but I did like the book.)

These books can be found in a combination of places - Psych/Eating Disorders/Women's Studies/Recovery, but if you can't find it, ask.

Have a great day, guys! I mean ladies....
