Good luck on your weight loss plan. It is SO hard to lose weight, especially since Little Debbie has been one of my best buds for a long time. I need to lose 145 myself. Do you have an "Avenue" store nearby? They usually have a great selection. You could also try going to Google and entering "plus size clothes". I have a slightly different problem. I am tall, and sometimes I have trouble finding things that were not meant for someone around 5'5". God bless, and don't give up.

Oh, I SO hear you about Lane Bryant's sizing! Hello sleeevs, pant legs!!!! What is going on ? It's like the people designing the clothes can't handle the fact that women at higher weights can be SHORT, too, not 6'8 like some of these things are cut for!!!

I became close to one of the sales associates in the Lane Bryant near me (and when I say, near, I mean 65 miles away)and I even worked at an LB back in '95 part time...When I was a 22, that was the only place I could buy undies and bras without having a total meltdown, and even the jeans fit me well there....

You know what kinda bugs me, though? (Besides everything being really expensive, but well made pieces are worth it I guess)is that over the past year, a GUY has been working there. Now, I am all for equal opportunity, but I find it a little ODD, and yes, I can be a raging sexist sometimes. Okay, now DON'T LAUGH, but back in '93 I worked for Frederick's of Hollywood (Victoria's Secret-like but much sluttier ;)!) and they refused to employ men, probably for good reason (don't want to catch him wanking off in the overstock)

Have you tried the Lane Bryant catalog ? The aren't the same as the retail store, but are affiliated with them, and Roaman's as well, and they carry sizes you need I do believe.

And I'm sorry your dad treated you that way...parents can really make a mess of you and they don't even realize it. I should know - mine did !

Hugs,

Amy

PS - Try finding things with fin holes and are waterproof! Couture doesn't seem to come in 'shark'....

Ladyirish, I know that you will get to do all those things soon! You're here and you're determined and I know you will do it! And I'm sorry about how your father treated you. That's aweful and nobody should be treated like that.

BTW, That's a very nice picture of you! I love it :)

I totally agree. I would kill for a beautiful lacy bra without underwires ( they hurt me). I also want underwear that fits around my legs. The leg holes in the granny panties I wear now are as big as the waist so my belly hangs out the leg holes. Now isn't that attractive ( think church lady voice. LOL). I want cute things like they make for the skinny girls. I want a dress that is straight cut not tent cut.

Well I feel better! Hugs to everyone, Brenda

I too can relate to what you are saying. The Lane Bryant catolog does go way larger than the store and they have lacy undies. I also had a very abusive father and still think that is why I am fat. What a jerk. He would make me get out the scales and weigh in front of him. You know, I wasn't that fat at the time either. My husband says he can't understand why I could let something still bother me after all these years,(my father has been dead since 1969). But I suspose it will always be with me. You know I want to wear sexy underwear too!! :-)Stephanie 280/225/170

You have determination and will. I can hear it through your message and that is good! Don't give up or discouraged, make those reasons you listed the drive for you to lose that weight. I know how depressing clothes shopping is. The big problem I have with Lane Bryant is their style. Sometimes seems like they try a little too hard to bring out what skinny girls wear. I am just not down with showing my gut. I am also not down with bell bottoms or wide legged pants (I think they make me look fatter). I also see too much of the other extreme with the circus tents with all the flower prints. It's like, hello, I am fat and I am going announce it to the world in the circus tent, lol! I want style, but I am not the super hipster, lol. I have noticed the catalogs have more of a style and size selection I like. I have been doing a lot of shopping online lately. There are alot of websites out there. Alight.com is a good one for some stylish clothes. Also if you go online you can a do a search for plus sized lingerie. Seems they have more there in extended sizes too. I too like lacy bras and panties, !
