You can have 2 cups of salad plus 1 cup of "other" veggies per day.

"other veggies"
"you can have one cup per day if salad does not exceed two cups--these veggies are slightly higher in carb content than the salad veggies.
artichoke hearts

lettuce and celery have little to no nutritional value so you're better off sticking to 2 cups of salad + one cup of the other.
don't forget also, cheese has 1 carb per oz and no more than 4 oz per day.
HTH!

You DO need at least 15 carbs a day, don't go below it or over 20. Good snacks are NUTS (HA HA)and celery...I really wouldn't recommend going beserk with processed meats like pepperoni sticks and cheese.I am working tonite, so if it's quiet i'll email you to you.
When i did Atkins, I had really good results..so drink your water, Missy!

Not sure how "by the book" you are going to be. But, I would suggest for you to achieve optimum results and take Dr A's suggestion and forego nuts until after your initial 2 week induction period. JMHO of course, but I really would love for you to see some awesome results these first 2 weeks!
On a side note: When you decide to move beyond induction levels I would highly reccommend(sp?) following the "ladder" that he's outlined in the book when you begin to introduce new foods back into your menus. You will appreciate doing it more carefully this way as a way to measure what helps you to lose & what may stall you. I learned that one the hard way the first time I tried Atkins! LOL I've followed the book to the letter this time and have had beautiful losses. :)
Best of luck to you! I know you'll do great.

Thanks guys!
Thanks Danielle :)
And while Im at it...are sugar snap peas induction friendly?
So far so good! :)
Romaine lettuce also has carbs--albeit small amounts but they're still there! According to calorieking.com there is .7g of carbs per 1/2 Cup serving. I always count my salad as 2 carbs just for the salad part and then add on w/ the extra salad veggies. This is just an FYI to reassure you that you are closer to 20 than you think. :)
I'm glad that you're feeling some of the hunger subside already. I had nasty withdrawls for 2 days--thought I was dying! LOL.
I agree, the diet coke w/ lemon is yummy! Have you tried the one w/ lime? doesn't leave as bad an aftertaste. I don't drink too much soda these days except for maybe when I'm out. I'm glad you found something you like. Diet Rite flavors are yum too, they're made w/ splenda and no caffeine.
Hope your day is going well.

I hope you find what I'm saying at least halfway useful. LOL. Not trying to be a pain in the butt or say I know it all, because I certainly DO NOT. There is still alot I don't know, things I experiment with and things I still research to make sure I'm getting the fullest benefit of everything. I love this way of eating and for once in my life cannot see every going back to anything else. With WW I gained 15 pounds! EEK! I lost the first week, like 4 pounds and then it was an uphill battle from there. Ugh! Carbs are not my friend! LOL.
I know that this plan is not for everyone, lets face it it's hard! You're going into this with your eyes wide open knowing what is per the book & what is not. Now you know if there are "problem areas" you know what to fix.
Have you tried the Carb Options steak sauce? I like it alot. I had also heard there was an A-1 low carb steak sauce out but I can't find it. A-1 is my all time fave and would be in heaven if it's actually good! LOL. Pretty much all the "Carb Option" stuff is good--salad dressings, soups, peanut butter, etc. There's also coupons all the time in the sunday papers and when the groceries put 'em on sale on top of that makes it much easier to experiment. LOL. OH, I take that back, the CO ketchup is NASTY! Stay away! LOL. I used one lil' squeeze and gagged on it & out it went into the garbage! Blech!
I'm sure you'll have great results this time around as well. People had me scared with the whole "golden first time around" bit and said if you went off once and tried again your losses would be even slower to non-existent. Well, I haven't had that problem yet and neither will you. You lost fairly easily on WW so this should not be any different.
I'm psyched to see you get into the 180's soon! *I* can't wait to get there either! LOL
199 seems to be sticking to me right now--going on 2 weeks but heck it's better then 299! LOL. I'm hot on your tracks chick, here I come!
