I don't know about the first 4 (I'll have to do some research lol) but I think #5 is the Internet because I think the military used it before it was used by the general public.

Way to go Mel! You got them both right. Sorry I didn't get back to this yesterday. I was reading a book I picked up at the Library and we had base ball games at 6.

I've got to tell you about this book. It's Incredible! It's called "Sam's letters to Jennifer" By James Patterson. I started it at 2:30 and finished it ( all 300+ pages Large print) before bedtime (1100). If anyone is looking for a good book I highly recommend this one. Hugs, Brenda

OK these are guesses

1. Hitler was addicted to opium.

2. Did JFK have Addisons disease or was it Cushing's? I don't remember. I'll go with Addison's.

Here are the answers:

What was the first talking film (movie) and what year was it released?

>>"The Jazz Singer" starring Al Jolson, October 1927. It used a record that was syncronized with the movie to provide the sound and spoken dialogue. At the time, most dismissed it as a fad.

"The Simpsons" was a cartoon short in what television show before getting spun off into its own series?

>> "The Tracy Ullman Show" (First Appearance: April 15, 1987). The Simpsons first solo show was a christmas special in 1989, and thus began one of the longest running shows on television.

What classic rock band took its name from two obscure Florida blues musicians?

>> Pink Floyd. Original lead singer Syd Barrett got the name from Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. (I was mistaken about them being from Florida. Pink was from SC, and Floyd was from NC)

In what comic book is the first appearance of Spider-Man found?

>> Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962. A mint/near mint copy today is worth over $50,000. It was written by Stan Lee, and Steve Ditko was the artist.

Which came first: The Internet or the Compact Disc?

>>Linda was correct with the Internet as her answer. The Internet began in 1969 as a government computer network. The first CD prototype was developed in 1972, and standardized for release in 1979. Mass-production began in 1982.
