Did anyone see the Today Show this AM?

Even the Today Show is doing makeovers, but it's makeover project this morning was a 30 year old woman in Ohio who works in construction. She's lost 108 pounds this past year. Did anyone see it? Your thoughts?

Sadly I'm at work by then.

I saw the program (or part of it) too, and I just looked at the Today Show link online but I don't see the story (or the new makeover from today's program either).
Anyway, about yesterday. A 30 year old woman from Ohio (Cleveland?) who is a sheet metal worker in construction. She lost 108 lbs over the past year, and her friends and co-workers recommended her for a makeover on the Today Show (they are doing selected makeovers all week long, apparently).
She lost the weight by herself, and she said it took just over 1 year (a year and 3 weeks) to shed her 108 lbs. She looks wonderful. She's a very busy woman, and I'm not sure she went about it as most of us here would. Katie Couric asked her, briefly, how she lost all the weight. And she responded, "just eating normally, all the healthy stuff." But then she elaborated, and though it sounded like it certainly fit into her busy lifestyle, it's not necessarily what I'd call "eating all the healthy stuff." She said that for breakfast she consumed cereal and fruit and skimmed milk (so far, so good). But lunch she typically ate McDonalds (!!) caesar salad, and for dinner she usually had a Lean Cuisine and piece of fruit.
I haven't eaten at McDonalds, and don't plan on ever doing so again....not for over a year now. So I don't know about their salad, how many calories or fat grams or how nutritious. But for this woman, certainly eating at work on a busy construction site where others go out to McDonalds and bring it back (I'm guessing), well perhaps it fit her life best. The dinner, Lean Cuisine, when tired after a long hard day of manual labor...I guess I can see that. But...it's just not something I personally would do.
Anyway, there's more than "one way" to skin a [I love cats}. And it worked for her. She says nowadays she belongs to a rowing club (friends from work) and she rows a boat most weekends. She also belongs to a group that runs together. So when Katie asked her, what's changed the most?, her response was that she's feeling alive now, seldom home, and very active.
True for most of us, I imagine!

That's a *private bug-a-boo" of mine. A few weeks ago I had a car problem, and mine had to be towed! Of all days for that to happen, it happened to be on the day I made a *quick run* (which lasted all day) to the library before breakfast. By the time my car got towed, it was very late in the day, and I had missed breakfast, lunch, AND dinner!! My son followed the tow truck with me in his car, and on the way back he stopped at (I think it was) Wendy's! It was so late that most of the non-fast food places we passed were closed already. I got one of their menu's (so I could make a half way decent selection) and then I just settled for a diet soda, and waited until I got home to FINALLY eat something which wasn't loaded with fat and all kinds of stuff I just don't eat anymore!
I know that may sound wierd (after all, I hadn't eaten all day long so I certainly had the calories to spare) but I just didn't want a wilted salad with greasy chicken on top and then add to that a fattening dressing with food additives in it. And all for an inflated price!
So when we got home from having my car towed to the dealership, it was going on 10 pm and I was exhausted. I finally got my breakfast....oatmeal, strawberries, two wheat toast one coffee ....and bedtime! And what did I LEARN from this little excursion?? Always keep something in the trunk to eat in an emergency, even if it's dehydrated fruit, or some nuts, or an energy bar. And for gosh sakes, don't make quick trips to the library without eating breakfast first! Ha, ha.
In the old days, I gained weight (as I said somewhere else here) by skipping meals, then eating on the run. So there was this "trigger" that just kept me from eating at a greasy spoon this time, I guess.
(BTW--The car is fine! Cost a fortune, though, especially the long tow to Saturn--Saturn keeps those "territories" so far apart between dealerships & that's the one downside-- and we'll have to see whether my insurance actually covers that or not!) Live and learn.

Glad to hear the car is ok.

Thanks for answering that! It's been a very busy week for me, and I posted but then haven't had a chance to get back here until now. I appreciate it.
