Howdy, Hiya, Hello!
My name is Tina. I'm 23 years old and just found this site. One year ago i weighed in at 303 pounds. I now hover between 241 and 246. I am just under six feet tall. I've been pretty content with my weight for a while. I went from a size 28 to a size 18 in about year, but then my boyfriend became my ex-boyfriend. I was devastated and went back to my ole friends Ben & Jerry. I actually spiked up to 269 again after we broke up, but now it's back down again. I've decided to actively try to lose weight again for a couple of reasons. I go to college full time now, having left the workplace that I was used to. I've worked full time since I was 19 (only making it through 1 year of college, so now I'm only in my sophomore year.)
#1 - Self Esteem. I go to college with a lot of pretty barbie dolls who make can make me feel all worthless if I'm not careful. I want to feel like I'm pretty, and I know that for that to happen, I need to get my endorphins pumping by working out and eating better.
#2 - Cash. It's really hard to be in college. It's really hard to pay more for clothes just so that they're in a larger size.
#3 - Insurance. My BMI used to be over 40. I used to be severly obese. Now I'm only a couple of points *approximately 20 lbs* away from merely "overweight." Although that may not seem like a big deal to some, I would love to have the extra coverage that a "lower risk applicant" would have.
#4 - I have the time. Now that I'm back in school full time, it's a bit easier to control what I eat.
#5 - Depression. It is said that a proper diet, exercise, and healthier lifestyle can curb depression. Now that I'm in school, I really miss my mom, and friends and such. I just need to keep on keeping on, I guess, but I want to do whatever I can to make it easier.
So here I am. Trying to eat better. Bought a pilates mat, and a couple different exercise dvds. The weight on my license when I was 16 was 225. I would love to get down to that. I would love to be a size 14, which I haven't been since high school. I hope you guys will help me, and I'll do my best to help you.
If you have any tips or tricks, feel free to post. I'm off to scour the boards for encouragement and advice now.
Thanks again folks
~Tina

HI there Tina and welcome to the boards!
Nice meeting you here! Sounds like you've already made up your mind to start, and that (after all) puts you off to a good start. Just keep up the momentum, and as you know, you'll get there!
