I was reading the news a couple of days ago about actress Kirstie Alley getting set to star in a television show called Fat Actress.

Kerstin...I completely agree with you. I'm tired of seeing plus sized people (especially women) being the source of jokes in films and tv shows. Though I really do wish Kirstie Alley the best because however bad I feel about myself some days I can't even imagine what Hollywood would do to someone's self-esteem when you aren't a size 0.

What we do need more of are shows like "Less Than Perfect" - it highlights a full figured woman living an active, successful life and her size is a non-issue.

Cheers

Kerstin, Maybe it's because I am a fat woman that I didn't see the "Roseanne" show the way you did. I love it. It taught me something about laughing at myself. Maybe it is because I am her. We live from paycheck to paycheck and that makes life hard. I saw haer as a strong woman especially in the later shows. (IMO) As far as there being another show on TV soon, I am glad. We need more fluffy women on TV to help overcome the Stigma we are given and to show young girls that it's OK. Hopefully they will show her as a confident woman! Hugs to you, Brenda

Kerstin, I was not offended by your post in any way and I hope you weren't by mine. My words aren't to good. I am a cranky old woman, so just ignore me! I saw a little blurb in todays newspaper on Kristie Alleys new show. I can't wait to see it.

I hadn't heard a thing about such a program, or about Alley (not for a long time now). Is it planned for Fall?
