I came across this website of a woman who lost over 90 lbs doing WW. Go through all the pages. Her weight loss is very inspiring and she has some good advice to share.

It was supposed to be funny. Guess it didn't seem that way. Sorry.

No, it wasn't directed at you. Sorry if it seemed that way. I was just saying that even the most innocent post is becoming crazy! Who knew a "success story" would be so controversial? I didn't!

I guess what I was trying to get across to some people who like to turn everything into a debate is......find something better to do!

Again, not directed at you. Sorry if I offended you or anyone who was just trying to post something nice.

I just wanted to say Thanks again for posting this. I know you are probably kicking yourself right now, since everyone keeps this WW thing going.

I appreciate seeing the success stories and I really do not think it is fair to post about this being a business, etc. Yes, I know they do what they can to make money, but there are a lot of people who have had tons of success with this program. I know a few people who have been lifetime acheivers for years, and once you are a lifetime achiever the program and meetings, etc are free.

>>I appreciate your two cents, and hope that you can appreciate mine.<<

Sure I do! I can't believe I'm continuing to post to this, because it's somewhat of a dead horse. But I will answer for a moment or two anyway. You are right that advertising something like this can make some feel "inspired." No quarrel there. But when you say, >>but if advertising something that inspirational is making someone else feel better, then there is no harm in it.<< I'd have to disagree, just a bit, with you there. The harm? Well, for one thing....people here at the business named "ivillage" have a right to charge for advertising. The business named ivillage probably charges a whole lot for the ads we see as we post. But what WW does is post these little vignette links, which are passed on at websites like ivillage, and in doing this kind of crap WW gets by without paying a cent of the advertising. That's not fair, business to business. Another harm, on the personal--person-to-person level. If a reader on a page like this one just gets "suckered in" and thinks "this is the real deal" (without questioning, what's really going on) then it can set up some expectations that might not be met by WW. I mean, it's like (no, it IS) suckering in customers under false pretenses. That is, of course, if the web pictures are in fact part of WW advertising campaign, and maybe just as doctored (or at least as paid for) as any of the other things we see advertising the latest product for weight control.

In other words, the company WW may not be being up-front with potential customers. And with that there is harm. By using the web to post "success stories" in places like this without paying for advertising....someone at this business ivillage could be cheated out of rightful money. And innocent readers could be "suckered in" to becoming new customers, based on a "success story" which may not be true, but in the very least is not 100% above board. That's all I'm saying. And it doesn't matter whether WW or viagra or cialis were to advertise without being honest (that it is paid advertising, that someone somewhere was paid to post pictures on a website). If they didn't pay here, then they shouldn't advertise here. Or anywhere else. And the same goes for truthfulness. Did a woman really lose weight on the program? Did she put up pictures because she felt like it? Or because WW was paying for her website, with the intention that it would be plastered elsewhere without paying the toll? It's a good question.

I know what you mean, Dawn. Who knew that a success story could cause all this?

Hi Linda! I sure didn't think a good thing could turn into this. But, stranger things have happened on this board, as I'm sure you know! Oh well, I guess we'll see what the next "good post gone bad" will be! LOL

As my last hurrah on this subject, I would like to remind you that there are many, many people over many, many years who have successfully lost weight on WW.

Thank you for posting this - I personally don't care what program an individual is on - it is inspiring to see someone succeed.

Keep posting similar success stories
