A new wave of on-line scams have erupted....You get an email from a credit card company, looks official, their logo is on there, has a good letterhead, even the site address...
They say that to update their security info, you must verify your banking info. This is urgent and mandatory, they warn.
Well, guess what? No credit card company will EVER do that.
The outcome? Well, obviously you lose your money in the bank BUT they will have downloaded a file onto your computer ( a spyware file) that will record the keystrokes to al the sites you visit. When you go to a financial one, or buy something on line, it will record passwords, credit card numberrs, etc....
This is a little different than the ones that were going around the last couple of years. They are also sending Microsoft Security Updates via e-mail. Also very official looking. MICROSOFT NEVER SENDS SECURITY PATCHES VIA EMAIL!
I've received 3 of these emails in the past couple of days and then saw a CNN story on it. Fortunately, I am very skeptical of unsolicited email and had deleted them w/o a second thought.
Just wanted to warn ya!

Just to add my 2 cents in here, there are a lot of "hackers" out there that essentially take a company or personal web page and duplicate it.

And...a quick rant on this subject:
I'm tired of the viagra ads, the "Impress her with your size!" ads, the Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, etc., etc., etc, porn video ads, the get out of debt now! ads, and so much more.
