I was quite shocked to read this, and just can't seem to wrap my mind around what happened to this poor woman, but all of us should feel lucky we haven't let this happen to us. And this is not poking fun or meant to offend, because you all know I'm NOT like that.

That is absolutely tragic. I too am having difficulty understanding how that can happen. That poor, dear woman.

I think I found this on the Hot Topics Board, if you would like to read the replies...

What a sad, sad story. No one should have to suffer like she did. This poor woman deserved better.

I agree, I think she deserved better, and on the ortiginal post board, I replied that I was shocked as well as suspicious that we don't have the whole story. I would bet that there was possibly some mental health issues here, and just plain old neglect. Unfortunately, some people made the point that maybe she was fine as she was, why should society inflict theri standards on her, but ON A COUCH FOR SIX YEARS? I don't get it. Did she start out at that weight? Who kept feeding her? How long had she been abandoned by her caretaker?

We used to have an employee here that was close to 400 pounds, and maybe 5'8 tall. This woman was 4'11 (?) so there is a bit of a difference there, but my coworker was completely mobile, and is even an EMT on our ambulance squad. I am thinking there were extensive issues here.

Unbelievably sad, to spend the last few years of your life like this. Maybe it was her choice to some extent, we will never know.

I too agree with you Amy. I also had a boss once that hit the scale at 520 and he got around just fine. No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. What a shame. :-)Stephanie

God, that just made me cry....what a horrible way for someone to live and die...that man should be charged with something- for not telling anyone so they could help her somehow...horrid...

I completely agree with you ..... and unless she had some type of mental instability then no one can be blamed but herself
