I admire all of you....

I agree on the moderation thing. The problem with all this low fat/low carb/low whatever stuff is that people are fooled into thinking they can then consume more of those things and it won't matter to their diet (WOE.) Fortunately most everyone HERE knows that this is a myth. Something may be low fat, but it'll be high something else, same with low carb stuff. It's so nice to read about people who understand there is more in a food than carbs or sugar or fat.
Anyway, I also admire everyone because when you get this many people together there are always going to be a few people who don't get along with a few other people. But, despite those differences, when someone has something bad going on in their life (or something good!) then everyone seems to come together. I'm referring specifically right now to Forte and her daughter and granddaughter. I'm a mom, too, and while I don't particularly agree with much of what Forte has to say, my thoughts are winging out to her and her familiy right now, just as many of you are praying for them as well.
It takes strong people to put aside their disagreements in times of trouble (and as I said, in times of joy) to stretch out a helping hand or share joy. You're all strong people!
Another reason I admire you all is because you're doing what I can't do. I don't have alot of weight to lose... last summer I went on WW because of Shawna - she motivated me without saying a word. I lost 10 pounds... then I got tired of counting and watching and blah yadda, and since then I've gained 20!! I hate it! But I can't seem to get myself back to *moderation*... I eat crap like popcorn (not TOO bad) and goldfish and fast food, and drink soda all the live long day (yeah the soda is my biggest problem) and I just don't have the um... what's the word? Can't think of it but you know what I mean I think. I just can't seem to get back on track. Eating crappy is so much easier than eating healthy!
Well, you all have lots of admirable qualities and I just wanted to point out a few (:

Its frustrating to see some of the rudeness but that is everyday life. Some people are just blind to how rude they can be without even trying.
I think all of us here are strong people, we have taken one of the toughest things to do is loose weight in this day of fast food. Which by the way can be super Yummy at times.
Yav, you will find the willpower again or not, but you still did it at one time if you want to you will do it again. In the mean time drink a Coke for me!
I had to move clear across country to get out from under my vice SONIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! We don't have Sonic here in MI. Thank god, or I would have to hit the gym twice a day.
Anywho. Good post.

Well, you might be surprised with **how much** you'd really agree with, if you gave me have a chance. I extend an olive branch to you, though you're seldom if ever on this board, and could hardly know me (or what I say, to be able to disagree with me in the first place).
Give it a shot! And welcome to *our* board.
About the things you said, regarding your own eating. You said, "Eating crappy is so much easier than eating healthy!" I'd have to disagree with you there. I'm having a wonderful time, and learning how easy it can be, to eat properly. One of the things I particularly enjoy (as regular readers know) is the food network, and learning new ways of cooking and eating which are much healthier than my old ways. If you haven't tried that, you should give it a shot too. You might get some ideas that would change your mind, too, about that statement of yours: "Eating crappy is so much easier than eating healthy! " Not so, not so.

Anyway. You're right, eating healthy isn't hard at all, if I could get myself back into it. But what I really meant by "easier" is that... opening a bag of popcorn takes much less time than cutting up fruits and putting them in handy bags is, HEHE. I did all that back when I was on WW and it was actually fun, but now? Man the thought of it makes me feel lazy.
I'll get back to it once I get disgusted enough, though. For right now, I need to concentrate on getting water back into my diet, and start exercising again (being up at 6:30 in the morning now with my daughter back to school will make that happen more frequently!) I just read someone's post about walking for an hour in cold rain, and gee it sure makes me having to pop a DVD into the player and turn on the tv seem pretty damn easy, lol.
Oh, if by food network you mean the tv one, it's one of my faves (that and TLC/HGTV home shows!) Haven't watched much lately though, because in the summer I don't tend to really turn the tv on for some reason.

No SONIC in Michigan?? Oh, the injustice! I can see a franchise in Michigan's future. If you don't mind my asking, what part of Michigan are you in? (If that's not being too nosey?) If you are any where near Ann Arbor, you do have some unbelievable places over there. I can't remember the name of that place with the homemade cheeses, the huge brownies, and the great big (and I mean GIANT) sandwiches in Ann Arbor. And there's always Frankenmouth (chicken). All kinds of places to get in trouble food-wise in that State. And then there's the fudge, Mackinaw, and the cherry festival (cherries are fine, but oh those pies!!) Take care. Avoid the food-devils with fattening goodies sold on every corner.

Maybe posting here is something I should do more often (:
About the rudeness, yeah... I mean, not everyone gets along with everyone at work, or school, or the PTA or wherever there are groups of women (and men, but mostly women!) It's to be expected, and I think usually everyone here is mature enough to just let it go... (yeah, including myself in the "IMmature" category, when my hackles get up I stop thinking.)
Toast to you, Jodi, with my A&W rootbeer :D

I live in the Metro Detroit area. Not by choice. I was mvoed here for work, although it has its merits its not the south that is for sure.
I am a Texan through and through.
Sonic is my favorite for that sort of thing. I really don't miss the food aspect of it as much as I do miss their drinks.
Waffle house as well! Oh BOY! Do I miss that.
Sonic is based in OK and they will not put a franchise in Yankeeland. I am thinking its because of the colder weather factor and them having carhops and all but there are some in souther IL so go figure.
All I can say is when I store up my points (WW program for me) I am gonna take a road trip to have one Strawberry Limeade and one CORN DOG!
Sorry Forte here is where we clash just a little bit. I am guilty of not being able to cut out all foods that I once loved and eat right every minute of the day. Thats why I am happy with Weight Watchers I can still incorporate the foods I love in smaller portions and feel this is more of a lifestyle change than a diet.
So far it has worked for me. I am glad your plan works for you.
Good luck with the grandbaby :) I send her my best.

Yes, by the food network, I do mean the tv one (and you can find all kinds of recipes and the program listing at foodtv.com). I've said a lot here, I tend to leave that on as background noise at home, and then stop when something strikes my fancy. Today, on surreal gourmet, a great idea for dinner BTW. I'm sure you know about fish in parchment. Here's a cheaper way to do it. Take a paper bag (sandwich size) and smear olive oil on the outside to create a seal through which fish juices cannot seep. Put a piece of fish inside, top with whatever 9he used a little lime juice, cilantro, garlic and that was all). Crumple bag shut, 10 minutes at 450 degrees, serve with mango salsa (homemade). Of course you could just do veggies and maybe even put some in the bag with the fish. But anyway, that's what I'm doing later. Low fat, full flavor. I get all kinds of great ideas from the food network. And it's helped me lose an awful lot of weight in the past 12 months.
Good luck to you. (I'm going to have to tend to home matters about now, so can continue this either later today or may have to wait until tomorrow. Want to check on my daughter, and little Claudia's condition.
