Intution and weight loss

Hi everyone,

Someone made a post recently referring to intution and weight loss. I'm interested in how intuition might relate to weight loss. This is actually a topic that has been on my mind lately. As some of you know, I've permanently given up "dieting," "journaling" or in any way counting or tracking my foods. I'm relearning how to eat in the moment and in some ways to follow my body's intution.

I think we probably have an underlying homeostatic "intution" that helps with weight loss, but our culture and our thoughts/behaviors override it. (For instance, have you ever eaten junk for so long that all you want is a fresh crisp salad?) What do you all think? Does tapping into our intution help with weight loss?

I don't know about intuition either Erin. I think it is psychology and maybe the two go hand in hand? I'm no psychology major, but I do know that you have a good point. I think we have to retrain our brains on how we view food. Food is just such a powerful thing and we are trained from birth on that food is a big part of our lives, other than nutrition, such as birthdays, holidays, etc. Not to mention we use food like people use drugs. We use foods to cope, to celebrate, to comfort. I think we have to retrain our noggins to look at food in a nutritional sense, but that can be difficult. It's like leaving the best lover you ever had, lol.
