Lurker with a thought...

I have seen the turmoil on this board. Without mentioning any names, I wonder why a person/persons who is within their "normal" range of weight would find it necessary to come to this board and bait it's members.

There are several boards that I know of on ivillage that only allow members who fit a certain criteria. For example, the "Teacher's Circle" on ivillage has this at the top of it's board:

<<>>

I have seen parents who post there GET THEIR POSTS REMOVED because they weren't teachers and were asking teachers questions on how to deal with teachers at their kid's schools!

Perhaps this board should adopt a similar policy, disclaimer at the top. Maybe something like this:

NOTE: This board is reserved for people weighing 100lbs or more and THOSE WHO WOULD POSITIVELY SUPPORT THEM IN THEIR EFFORTS TO LOSE WEIGHT. It is not designed as a forum for fat bashing or debate. If you are a person who would like to debate the different issues concerning weight loss, please visit the debate boards.

Just a thought....

Excellent suggestion. Thanks for posting that. Hopefully someone in "authority" will listen, especially if it is being done on other boards.

Very Very good point and I think that disclaimer should be put on this board b/c people seem confused about that very thing. They go on the diet and fitness board list, see 100+, and think "Oh, fun time!"

Why not? Why is it allowed on other boards but not this one???

From the "Child Free by Choice" board, here's another example:

<<<<>>>>

So, if disclaimers/policies are allowed elsewhere, but not here, isn't that discrimination?

Seems like that to me.

Good idea. I'm not overly interested in what Joyce has to say about this matter, but this place should be reserved for people who NEED to lose 100+ pounds, are in the PROCESS already, or HAVE lost the weight and can encourage others in a POSITIVE way.

Good idea.

Can I hug you? ;o) Amidst all the drama lately,I don't think it occurred to possibly incorporate something like that into the header of this board.Even on some of the support boards there are warnings that the board is not a debate board, and this board could certainly benefit from a warning to whomever pops into this board.

Hi I am new to this board yesterday was my first message. I don't have to lose 100 pounds but it is close enough. Put it this way, if I lose 75 pounds I won't be skinny but I sure would feel really great about myself. This board seems pretty friendly to me. I was wondering how often everyone weighs themselves? I know some people say once a week. I can't help getting on everyday. I feel like if it goes down then maybe I won't blow it. I started yesterday with my old ww plan. The scale went down a pound (Iknow its water) but it still makes me happy to see it go down. Good luck to everyone today.
