Someone mentioned this in the fruits post, and I was just thinking about it.

Well, we got a new chain of "farmer's markets" here, but they're probably what the midwest and east coast people are used to.

I much prefer farmer market. The tomatoes are wonderful! This summer our little town started their own little market on Mondays. I hope they do it again next summer.

I normally just go the store route because I live in Wisconsin and by the time the markets arent open long here, unless you start going early and buy store bought stuff from the markets hehe Plus, you have to have cash at most of the places and I hardly ever have cash.

I was the one who mentioned it, and down here we have tons of farmers markets everywhere, so I would MUCH rather go to a farmers market than to Walmart...(evil)

Well, I only have one real farmers market near me, on thursdays from 4-7pm in the summer... and they don't have alot of fresh stuff. Some corn, green beans, tomatoes (yuck) maybe a bell pepper here and there. THey do alot of canning and baking though... zucchini bread, yum!

I prefer fresh farmers market, but I never think about it on thursday evenings!

Now, for a great produce section in a grocery, go to Pick 'n Save in Milwaukee, LOL! Everytime Shawna and I go there I just drool at the variety, it's enormous! (And expensive.)

I much prefer farmer's markets - the selection is amazing (especially with autumn coming on), the prices can't be beat...plus...at the one near me, Peter Pie Man sells the most amazing pies. Of course I haven't bought a pie in months but it's always tempting.

Perhaps the one downfall about farmer's markets is that for a single person it's very tough to get through the amounts that you buy before the fruits and veggies go off.

Cheers
