Ok maybe this is my way to freak out but Ike starts school tomorrow (and Ive been waiting on this day for 4 years....) We decided to pack Isiah's lunch for a while and I have no idea what to send to school for his lunches! Sure you can send sandwiches, chips and some fruit, but what else? Do you send sandwiches everyday? I need help! Gimme lunch ideas!

Haven't read the other posts so I don't know if these are repeats.....

wheat bagels with cream cheese and meats or peanut butter and jelly. For some reason the mini bagels are a real hit

little bags of crackers

fruit

jerky sticks - they love these

I freeze gogurts and it is just right by lunch time.

cut up veggies and individual servings of ranch dip

motzarella cheese sticks

these are some of my kids favorites

This is what we used to get (I'm fat and my brother's not, so you can look at it either way) a sandwich, pudding, chips, and some form of fruit. Or she'd switch it up and give us potato soup in a thermos w/ crackers on the side (I'm not sure how it was hot by lunch time still, but I do know that at my sister's school-she's 8- they have a microwave w/ a lunchlady to help)

*EDIT* Wanted to add that baby carrots are really good if you dip them in ranch :)

We loved string cheese and those cheese n cracker things that come with the little red stick to smear the cheese on.

Now why does everyone think Im gonna cry? LOL Ask Tina, Im not much of a crier....I normally cry when Im VERY angry.

But today, when I was preparing his clothes (he has to take a spare change of clothes for accidents I guess), when I was putting his name in his backpack and lunchbox, I kept thinking..."I cant believe this time is here". Its a good thing but also a sad thing I guess. Rich is even taking work off tomorrow to spend it with me :) We have an hour long orientation in the morning and then we leave him....du du du duuuunnn

Shawna, This is a hard time. It's OK to cry. I cry at everything. I even cried when taking my 11yo to 6th grade this year. He is growing up so fast. Everyday a new part of him begins to look more man like. It's enough to break a Momma's heart. Enjoy these years, they go by too FAST! Hugs, Brenda

Hi everyone, now I feel like I have something to contribute. I work as a lunch monitor in my kids school. No matter what you pack most will end up in the garbage. I try to pack my kids healthy food so they don't end up like me. Most of it goes in the can. If this is your sons first year school packing a lunch for awhile is probably best. Going into a lunch line and buying their lunch is really scary for kids. Plus the lunches our school serves are not very low cal or healthy. Talk to everyone later

I found that my kids didn't like to take their lunch because it made them so different from everyone else.

Come visit my page and say hi!

Thanks everyone for the input! I did pack his lunch today. I sent a P&J sandwich (he's not really a sandwich kinda guy either), some FF pringles, a banana and some mini marshmellows. I guess that is pretty healthy. There was another child there named Austin who had the same lunchbox as him, so Im glad I put some stickers on his lunchbox so that he can determine which is his.

But as his teacher was going over how things work there, she was saying that paying students have to memorize a 4 digit pin number and use that number at lunchtime....a 4 year old memorizing a pin? I have enough problem remembering MY pin numbers! LOL So I think it will be easiest to pack lunches for now.

It went well this morning. No tears...but Ike did hug Austin's mom as she left lol She just giggled. Then when we were leaving, Isiah put his arm around Austin and said "You will be my best friend!" Its scary because Isiah seems so innocent compared to other kids. Hes just so loving and friendly...but Im probably biased HAHA

I was browsing kids books on Amazon and came across this - I *think* it's ok for me to post a link to amazon... if not, Joyce, I apologise.

Anyway, it's a book about kids brown bagging it (:
