Hurricane Frances

I know that hurricanes have been talked about recently but I thought I would start a post as I didnt realize that Frances was this bad. I called my parents tonight and they filled me in on the details since they get the Florida news. They said that their news is saying that this could possibly be the worst hurricane to hit the States. Its so large that right now, it would span from the Keys to Georgia.

My parents have been staying on Merritt Island to housesit, as you all know. They are leaving in the morning since they are under mandatory evacuation again. They are being told to be out by 2 PM since they are predicting it will hit land where they are staying. They are gonna follow their close friends on the evvacuation, who live on Merritt Island as well. Her husband is bed ridden and doesnt travel well at all. So my parents are gonna follow them as far as they can and then head to Mississippi for my sister's. The cat they are keeping will be joining the neighbors on their evac since they will have to come back to Florida. My parents were leaving in a week anyhow to spend some time with my sister and then come back home (here) for the winter. So they wont be returning and Dad is afraid there wont be much to come back to anyhow. Everyone in the retirement trailer park are definitely leaving this time. The news said that their area is expecting 18 foot surges!

So for those that are in Florida or who have family there...my thoughts are with you. If you have family, please call them to see what their plans are. Im sure this will greatly effect several states, so I will keep you in my thoughts as well. I plan to be watching alot of the weather in the next few days.

Yes, but you're missing the point. I suggest you go back and understand the issues.

That would be HURRICANE Erin, as she mentioned earlier. And so did I. People in Florida are talking about this storm taking Erin's path.

Well, thank you.

Well, you've been mis-informed. It's a category 2 (and even at its worse only cat 4). As I've said, categories go 1-5 with 5 being worse, and a category 2 is not bad.

And that's the whole point, as she and I have been telling you, about taking time and not panicing and planning where you are going.

Your obsession with Shawna is kinda cute. It's also kinda pathetic. Let it go. We all love her. We don't think she's lying about anything. We've all read the news, and we know that what she was saying several days ago (before the hurricane weakened) was true. (Maybe those who get cable or watch lots of television might say something different; I try to watch as little TV as possible, considering I work part-time, attend school full-time, and do fun things like work out, shop, and go out with friends.)

On an unrelated note (though related to my post about your being a WONDERFUL ambassador for the state of Florida), I am wondering why you spend so much time on this board arguing with people over whether Shawna's parents (people you've never met) are lying or telling tall tales, the strength of a hurricane, whether Florida voters are stupid, and obsessing over whatever silly cooking shows you watch on cable. Why aren't you with your daughter and her new baby? Why didn't you spend the summer at your lovely home in Bothell, like you claimed you were going to do last spring? Forte, if I did a public records search of deed transfers or tax assessments in Bothell, would I find any homes owned by someone with the last name of Forte? And if I repeated that search for the state of Florida, would any of those names match?

Just curious. I hate to see people lie to the newbies on this board.

Go away Forte and ASSTRI, you are not welcome here. Guess you haven't gotten the hint yet. Isn't Astri the one who said she wasn't going to help anymore? So shut up already!
