Not exactly the exercise program I was..

I started my exercise program up last Sunday with a pathetic attempt on the bike. It wasn't much, but at least I had gotten started. Then Monday I started class and found an enforced exercise program that was even more grueling!

There's no parking, so you're forced to park way the heck out in Never-Neverland. And it's taken you so long to find a space that you have to walk as quickly as possible all the way across campus to get to class on time. Once there, I have to stand up throughout the class and wave my arms and walk around in an attempt to wake up the kids who signed up for such an early class.

After that, it's back across campus to my office for an hour, then out to another class where I repeat the show. With the adrenaline gone, I have to walk back across campus and try to find where I left my car.

By the time I got home on Monday, I had to collapse. I woke up an hour later with major aches and pain in my legs, feet and back. I knew I had overdone it, but I didn't have much choice. Tuesday was recovery day, Wed I was back on campus. Thursday was recovery and Friday was back on campus. I was exhausted on Friday, but not quite as bad as Monday (or maybe I was walking slower).

So there you have it- my new exercise plan! Maybe when that gets to be easy I'll start back up on my videos, but for now this is enough!

P.S. For an added weight-lifting benefit, I end up carrying around a ton of books, handouts, water, etc. And I go through a liter of water easily.

hope,

It's not as bad as yours, but I too have an enforced excercise program.

I work in a small retail store in the mall. I am constantly on my feet and moving around. We only get a half hour break.

I have to carry a metal shopping basket around with me and I have to make "figure eights" throughout the whole store at all times. I lug boxes of heavy merchandise from the back room to the sales floor and have to unpack them. I move fixtures and merchandise around the store. When I am at the register,I am constantly bending down for bags (which are stored near floor level) and I am lifting heavy merchandise (pots,pans,20 thousand heavy jars of salsa or food products.lol)

I am constantly moving, bending, lifting, stretching, lunging, and walking for 8-9 hours a day,5 days a week. That is MY excercise program. ;-)

I don't think I'd survive a day like yours, jazzladyw! They'd find me in a puddle on the floor around 10am!

Never underestimate the benefits of schlepping across a college campus! I'm sure the only reason my weight gain in college wasn't more substantial was that I walked to class (and up and down endless flights of stairs) every day on top of working out. All of my classes at the law school are in one building, and I gained about 20 pounds my first year alone.

Hope your school year is off to a good start.
