I live in a very large and beautiful home and right now, it just looks plain jane. There are large bay windows in every room and all the rooms have high ceilings and spacious rooms. There is crown molding in the living room and dining room. I have kicked around ideas with Tina about sanding down the cabinets and either painting them or Im thinking...a pretty stain. But Tina still owns this home, so I cant do anything MAJOR yet...not until we buy it, which we have plans to do once we sell our other home.
So Im looking for cheap but cool ideas. I want my living room and dining room to have a dark feeling...dark, dark accents...etc. I love red tones....and dark colors. My kitchen is gonna be in an apple scheme. And my bathroom is gonna be in barn red. We have an oriental idea for the bedroom. So if you have ideas for things like center pieces, or craft ideas...tell me about it please :)

My kitchen is kind of an apple theme. It's a cross between apples and chickens (did I mention I like country?). But it's still a work in progress. What do your cabinets look like now? Are they painted or stained? I never did anything like that before, so I don't know how much work that would entail.
We also put up beadboard wainscoting in the bathroom off the kitchen. I like architectural details like this. But they are so much work to put up!
Your house sounds beautiful!

Yeah.
Get it away from me, now.
I was about to attack the toilet.
They should not sell this stuff to people like me.

I am really into home decor, and I like to make wreaths and center pieces(yes me, the spoiled lazy quip-master--doesn't sound like me does it?). I like to use long twigs and tall flowers(holly hocks, etc) to make centerpieces for our table. I also love the autumn. Think of all of the awesome things you can put in your house right now. Leaves, gourds, punkin's, bunches of corn stalks, etc....that will add a lot of personality to your home for autumn. Also, my mom is VERY into decor, and she puts up a lot of art(you can go to a local college art show and get 'em cheap) and even sconces with candles and oil lamps and tapestries. I actually hung up a prayer rug from Kuwait in my room that my friends dad got me last year when he went. It looks good like a tapestry, and it's very colorful. We also have dish hangers with colorful dishes in the kitchen, and those fake bunches of peppers and onions and etc. over the island. We also put up swags of flowers and things of that nature. I am also veery into neat candle holders. I like gothic looking ones myself, but I go to yard sales and find the coolest candle holders...try garage and yard sales for cool home accessories.(and I have plenty more ideas for outdoors--we did our landscaping and everything in our yard ourselves--you've dicovered Sara's hidden talent)
