ok, so i have a half gallon (ok, well, it started out as a half-gallon) of Edy's low-carb vanilla bean ice cream. (i normally buy cheap ice cream on the rare occasions i buy it, but edy's was on sale and they didn't have any regular or low-fat (which i prefer) vanilla left) i also have a half gallon of Breyers all-natural strawberry ice cream (regular ice cream, not low-fat - it was also on sale (80 cents less than the "cheap" kind)) in the freezer. (it doesn't get opened til the vanilla's gone *hehe*) anyway, i was comparing the nutritional info on the two, and well, here's the numbers:

"low-carb" - Cal: 140, Fat Cal: 80, Carbs: 13g, and Protien: 2g

regular - Cal: 120, Fat Cal: 50, Carbs: 15g, and Protien: 2g

I ASK YOU - aren't the better flavor, fewer calories, and less fat worth those extra !!!2g!!! of carbs???

sheesh.

You might have been looking at the total carb count as opposed to the net carb count. The net carb count is the total carbs minus the fiber and/or sugar alcohols, which is whatever sweetener they use in place of sugar. The net carb count is the number of carbs which matters to low carbers, such as myself.

Breyer's makes this amazing ice cream called Smart Scoop, and the low carb versions come in chocolate and vanilla, and they are both very delicious! That is my ice cream of choice, especially when I'm PMSing! It's quite pricey, but worth every cent!! ~Sabrina

I would buy expensive premium ice cream on the rare occasions that I have it. I've had this $4 for 4 litre CRAP that tastes worse than chalk dust that someone bought because, "look, what a bargain!!" If I'm going to treat myself it is going to be GOOD. And I'm willing to pay extra money for it.

i usually get spartan or red rocket brand ice cream - it's cheap, but it's still good ice cream. it just doesn't come in as many flavors. *hehe*
