Wedding music...I'm almost sobbing here!

Well, it's still about 2 years until my wedding, but I've started thinking about a lot of the plan already. I've been to 2 bridal shows with my twin sister, who is also my maid of honour, and it's pretty exciting!! I downloaded some country music that I've been wanting to get for quite a while, and one of the songs is "When you kiss me" by Shania Twain. Now, I find that they seem to over play a LOT of her music, especially the stupiest songs, but this one hasn't been on the radio that often. It's such a beautiful song, too! Has anyone heard it? I can tell that a song is definately appropriate for my wedding when I have tears streaming down my face while I'm listening to it!! I just listened to it twice, and both times I was singing along with it and crying LOL!! It just give me shivers!! This song just describes the love that Andre and I have, especially the part when she says "I can see you with me when I'm older". I had an idea that I might want to sing at my wedding, but I'm not sure about that yet. Andre has been bugging me, because he wants to hear me sing, but I haven't sung for him at all the time we've known eachother, which is probably close to 3 years now. I'm just shy! The only person I really sing in front of is my twin sister, when we're in the car or something. I love singing, and I think that my voice isn't bad, but it just makes me not want to sing when Andre pressures me!! It has to happen naturally. He seems to think that especially since we're engaged, he should be able to hear me sing!! I said all in good time, but sometimes he still pouts about it LOL! I just thought that it might be nice to sing during the ceremony, and a good ice breaker, but I might be too emotional. The other idea I had was to have karoke at the reception, just for something different. That way I'll be able to have a few drinks before singing LOL!! It's just an idea, but I thought it might be fun! What does everyone else think? ~Sabrina

Sabrina, I sing in church and have also done a few funerals, never a wedding though. It is very hard even after all these years. I don't think I could sing at my own wedding even today. There is to much pressure surrounding the day. If you have sung in public before, the first time I don't think you want to be your wedding. If you are set on this I recommend you find a kareoke (sorry about the spelling) bar and go a few times to see if you can get a word out in public. The fear can be pretty intense. Believe me I know.LOL Have fun picking out your music and I'll send you good thoughts and angles to help you with your decision. Hugs, Brenda

Hi Brenda, thanks for your input! It was just a thought, I still have no idea if that is something I want to do. If I did, I would definately do some practicing beforehand!! I just thought it might be a wonderful gift to give Andre at our wedding, because I know it would make him very happy!! ~Sabrina

I've played piano for our church for about 10 years, countless weddings and funerals. Also competed in music festivals for voice and piano. It is VERY VERY different from singing in the shower. I suggest some voice lessons or at least some performing experience. You don't want your gift to become a nightmare do you?

Oh, believe me, I know this would be no easy task!! I would definately get some professional lessons to prepare myself if I chose to do this. I've thought about how horrible it would be if I was not prepared, and sounded horrible!! That would be the worst thing ever! One of the reasons I have thought about this is because I do have quite a bit of time to prepare for the wedding, and I just know that this would be something that he would find very special. I might just think about the karoke thing instead. And no, it would not be a tacky, smokey bar scene kind of thing...both of us hate the bar scene. It would be something tasteful, and fun!! I think it's a very original idea for a wedding, so I might just look into it. ~Sabrina

Thanks, Lady, that sounds great. I love Josh Groban's voice. Andre and I are both mostly into country, but we do want to have a variety of music at our wedding. We also want some jazzy stuff, and maybe some swing. One thing I love about Andre is that he loves the sappy, "girly" music even more than I do!! Sometimes there are some differences in our tastes in music, like when he listens to some old retro stuff... but then again, there are 12 years between us, so it's understandable that he would listen to music that is not in my generation LOL!! Mostly, we like the same stuff, though! ~Sabrina

Sabrina when Frankies brother got married last month his bride during the ceremony sang If I Aint Got You by Alicia Keys…. It was awesome! So if you wanna break out with a tune then go for it! I sure wish I had a voice….
