Have you guys seen the commercials for the next reality show? Its called the Biggest Loser and centers around people losing weight. Im not quite sure how I feel about it and probably wont make up my mind until I see an episode. I just know that they are gonna have trainers who are pushing them to lose weight and they are probably on teams. Ive seen a few clips from it and I heard someone say something about wanting a donut but they said it forcefully and like they were gonna die without it. Whatever lol
And speaking of that, when is Alley's new show gonna start?

I probably won't watch it. One I don't watch a lot of TV unless it's Sportscenter or some kind of Football game, two it's very "Swan" like. I mean I am sure we could all totally haul ass if we had a trainer in our face 24/7.
Yes it looks good, and yes being overweight is a huge issue in my life but I couldnt have taken time out of my life to be on a tv show to loose weight. I don't feel like the show applies to the real world. Is that dumb?

On the flip side, I hate that they have to stand there in swimsuits. Like they said themselves...HOW HUMILIATING! And although they made it through their first week, I think the way they were being forced to exercise was nuts. These people probably havent worked out in forever and to make them do all of that? Im surprised someone didnt get seriously hurt. And lastly, I dont think they should vote people off. Sure, that makes great reality tv...but these ARE people who NEED to lose weight and who could suffer from a serious setback if they were booted. Some WILL lose weight easier than others and how much or how fast they are losing might get them booted out since the teams are urged to lose more than the other team.
What are your thoughts? Its not even over and Im already jabbering about it lol
I liked it! I didn't really at first, but by the end they sort of won me over. I really really liked the guy trainer too.

I would hope that maybe it will help motivate them, kind of like a little wake-up call. To have to show America what I look like with a swimsuit on... that would definitely motivate me even more! And yes, humiliating is right.
I definitely agree about the mega-working out. I wonder if they had to pass some kind of physical tests that proved that they could handle it. I guess they would have to or the lawsuits would be flying!
I liked it overall. But I really can't stand the older guy on the losing team with the glasses!
I think it is a little bit cruel to have all that tempting food around for them to try to resist. We all know how hard it is to stick to your diet at times, and to have the food dangling right there in front of your face... I'm not surprised that one guy picked up a donut and started chowing down on it!
I also think that the guys have an advantage over the women. It's a proven fact that men can shed weight faster than women, and some of the women might have to contend with aunt flo and PMS, so they would have to work even harder to get the weight off.
I am going to watch this show again, because I also find it a motivating factor. If these people can resist the junk food being shoved in their direction, surely I can pass up a chocolate chip cookie! ~Sabrina
I'm very upset that they don't have categories, or that they didn't think of this beforehand... the 170-175 girls (one of which was voted off this week) have less to lose which means they will lose less each week. The two highest weighing dudes will obviously lose more in the first week or two and faster. They really should have had requirements (200-300 lbs only, or something) because this whole thing isn't fair at all to the few below and above those weights. Another thing is height and age. The oldest people have been carrying this weight around longer and their bodies will reflect this in weaker heart, weaker arteries, weaker joints.
This whole thing is just a set-up for ratings as far as I'm concerned.
However, I do like the show! I like the idea of it, and I liked that the contestants didn't know there was a cash prize until they were actually there.
Another thing I didn't like was Caroline Rhea being the host! I love her, have loved her in everything I've seen her in... but she's overweight. If she's happy with how she looks (she's always looked good and does now) then that's great... but I kept wondering what the contestants thought of her... "shouldn't she be joining us?" lol. Of course I'd have been pissed if the host was some skinny-minnie like that female trainer who looks like nothing but a bag of bones with some dinky muscles spread over them.
I didn't have a problem with the swimsuit thing, or the weighing because the people knew they were going to be on national tv when they signed up. They knew their fat and their WOE was going to be out there for all to see, not to mention the throwing up and crying, the sweating, the whining.
I do NOT like the food in those personal refrigerators... but on the other hand, I guess it's good incentive, and a way to test willpower. I seriously didn't understand that breakfast they showed. Pancakes and french toast? Piles of sausage and bacon? And I didn't see any fruit on the table! It's like they HAD to give in and eat the bad stuff! There didn't seem to be any choice... ? Maybe I missed seeing healthy choices... ?
Anyway, it came down to the vote and I was very pissed about it. For the reasons stated above. It was a set-up, of course the lowest weight/lowest loser was going to get kicked off. What REALLY made me mad was Gary saying "well she's 21, she doesn't have much to lose, she can go home and do it herself"... well maybe not? Maybe that's why she was THERE? It was just incredibly insensitive........and that attitude is why I don't talk about MY weight loss issues here, or really anywhere else. Not because I think you guys would run me off and be mean, but because I think you'd be *thinking* those things. Her issues are just as real as Gary's are and he demeaned her with that comment.
So, there're my opinions.
