Back Again . . . And Sadder Than Ever

Hi There . . . I haven't posted to this board in FOREVER. And, lately, I haven't even tried to lose any weight. I believe right now that I'm at the highest weight I've ever been. Somewhere around 313 pounds if the doctor's scale can be believed. I have done nothing but gain weight in the last two years (since I've gotten married) . . . now that marriage is sadly coming to an end (will be much better for me when it's over because I don't want to deal with the emotional and mental abuse anymore).

This brings me to a new determination to try to lose all my extra weight . . . and I'm wondering a few things. #1 Has anyone heard of the G.I. Diet, and what do you think of the concept behind it? #2 Does anyone have any suggestions on making a daily chart for journaling purposes? #3 Any friendly support and encouragement would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I hope I can stick it out this time . . . I want to do this for ME, but I'm gonna need lotsa help!

Thanks everyone!!

Shannon

Hi there Shannon :) Im so sorry that you are low right now. It doesnt sound like life is being very kind to you. But the divorce offers you a new chance at life and that has to be a little exciting right? Im wishing you lots of luck with your new beginning...your weight loss too. I have never heard of the GI diet. What does your doc think of it?

The GI Diet is all about eating foods lower on the glycemic index.

Hi Shannon...welcome back!

I'm so sorry to hear about all the difficult times you're going through, but it sounds like it will be what is very best for you. I love making a journal. I carry a small notebook with me everywhere and I just keep a journal of the things I eat. I also jot down some motivational things that help me along the way...like if I see a really cute skirt I want to wear someday, I'll write it down; If I see a low-fat recipe somewhere, I write it down. It's just kinda handy to have it down, and when I have all that I've eaten that day staring me right in the face...it's a good tool to keep me from overeating. Someone else on this board (sorry...I can't remember who) gave me the great idea to write down the top 100 reasons you want to be thin, and then post them somewhere you'll see them everyday! I have 3 copies...one on my vanity mirror, one above my computer, and of course, one on my fridge. It really helps...and I've added to it. My list is like 110 now!

Anyway, I hope some of this helps...
