Sugar cravings?

I've been having some horrible sugar cravings lately. I've never really had a problem with this before either so I'm clueless as to why I'm having them and how to deal with them. Any suggestions?

Hi... I really have a sweet tooth so I know what you mean. I think it is best if you can find something similar that is a healthier choice and replace it: my favorite thing is chocolate ice cream so I eat fat free sugar free fudgicles and I am okay. And berries really add sweetness to things like yogurt or cottage cheese. I think after a while you get used to not having things quite so sweet also... good luck.

You can maybe ask a nutritionist the exact reason why you crave sweets: it could be that you just need some energy (actual calories)but try to eat something with protein to satisfy your body, like peanut butter or nuts and a fruit. That might help it go away.

Mindy, I have no idea why you would be craving sugar unless your blood sugar is low. If you are still having problems, maybe you should see your doc.

It could be a few different things,so if it's unusal for you normally,I'd probably get it checked out. That was the first symptom of diabetes in my husband, and since it's not something you'd really go to the doctor for(really, who thinks they need a doctor because they all of a sudden eat boxes and boxes of twinkies and ho-ho's)he didn't go until we noticed many other symptoms.Good luck and hope it's just a craving and passes :o)
