Hi Ladies :)

Well having 100 lbs to lose is a new thing for me. I have been going back and forth between 90 and 100 lbs for a while now. My husband and I both need to lose weight, he needs to lose about 200 pounds (weighs 400)

My concern is different for me rather than for him. He has never even tried a diet, never wanted to i guess. He has always been overweight...i have not. 4 years ago i weighed 130, today i weigh 225. Seems like a lot to gain in 4 years...well i gained about 40 of it in the first 3 years, then the last 60 in 1 year! Anyways, i was wondering if you ladies are on a specific diet/exercise plan or just "watching what you eat" That never makes much sense to me, i need specific guidelines or else i over-indulge without knowing it. Also, any advice for talking to DH about him trying to lose some weight too? I am just really worried about both of our health more than anything else!

Thanks so much!!!

Hello Jenn and welcome!

Gosh, not sure where to start with your post. First, Im doing WW and Rely mentioned me in her post. She is flattering me and boosting my ego because she knows I need it LOL There are others here who have great weight loss stories...some just dont post and lurk. Jodi is another good one to talk to if you are looking for a success story :)

About me in particular, I dont attend meetings and just purchased the books from the local WW store. Or you could get them off ebay too. Im telling you just in case you are contemplating WW. Just go to weightwatchers.com and it can give you much more information.

Im really sorry for your weight gain. That must really be hard going from such a small body to the current one. Kinda like you, I havnet always been overweight but have been steadily gaining since I was 20ish.

The best way for you to lose is to get your husband on the weight loss wagon too. Have you tried just sitting him down and telling him your concerns? If your like most wives, you probably control most of the shopping and cooking. You could just start making changes. Even if he isnt following whatever you choose to do, he will probably still lose a little just because you will be serving different foods. Cook only what you will eat. That doesnt leave much rooms for seconds or thirds. There are women here who are just changing their eating habits and using portion control to lose. Hopefully Linda or some of hte others will pop in and tell you how they do it :)

Again, welcome to the boards! I urge you to jump right in and see if we can help you at all.
