While I am very happy to see so many new faces here, there is an issue on this board that has to be addressed every now and then. This board serves as a wonderful place for support when you need to lose alot of weight, but it also attracts some posters who dont belong here. You might notice that some of us posters are very defensive at times and we have a reason for this. Stick around for a while and you might get a taste of why we are this way. So sit back, enjoy the company you can find here and overlook any bad behavior you see. Here is also a past note from Community Manager Joyce, so that you can see her suggestions on how to handle rude posters.
http://www.ivillage.com/help/tos.html. If you see posts that you feel are disruptive, please ignore the member and report those posts to iVillage for review. We will make every effort to keep the boards clean of problems, and appreciate our members who take the time to alert us to potential situations. If there are problems, you have several options when dealing with someone you suspect is trying to cause trouble, whether it's a deliberately disruptive message, or a group trying to prove there are fakes out there or something else entirely:
1) Ignore! - Go into your profile (you'll find the link at the top of the board and you need to be logged in). Click on "update your profile". The last tab is labeled "Friends" and there you will find the "friends" and "ignore" lists. You can add or delete members on your ignore list there.
2) report a problem post! - click on the "report a violation" button on any post and send in a request for us to review it.
3) Don't feed into it - any person deliberately causing trouble in a community probably wants attention and s/he may enjoy watching the chaos they cause. If you respond, even if it's to point out the error of their ways or defend yourself, you are feeding into the problem and it will escalate. An attack, disruptive post or other problem can cause huge amounts of trouble if you let it. Ignore them, report them and carry on with your discussion; Treat them like an annoying little sibling "I can't see you, can't hear you, can't be bothered, ho hum" and they will hopefully go away. (We will also be monitoring, and will deal with situations according to the TOS, behind the scenes.) Please remember - even if you are defending yourself against an "attack", if you violate the TOS in your response, your post will also be removed and you will be warned.
