I agree with that article. If 20 minutes of slow walking is all you can do, and start out with that, fine. But you gotta kick things up a few notches very soon.
And the not eating enough vegetable thing, HEAR HEAR HEAR!!!
Harsh! There are many good points in there, but looking at it all (especially when just starting out) it makes the task seem even more overwhelming! Thoughts on two specific points:
1. no alcohol consumption - I rarely drink, but more and more research is saying that one or two glasses of wine every couple days is actually GOOd for the heart.
2. artificial sweetners- I've heard about the insulin reaction before, and rather hope it is more myth than fact. At the same time that we need to cut sugar and starch from our diets, we are also told not to put "Splenda" in our tea or drink a diet soda. That's hard to do, especially all at once! I'm probably still better off putting sweetner in my coffee than loading it with sugar.
I'm trying to incorporate as many of these things into my routine as possible, but I'm afraid that the list would scare some people off of even trying at all. Maybe I'll start with what's easiest, and then add one more every couple of weeks :-)
