I made an effort to increase my activity yesterday, and I'm embarassed to admit that I ACHE all over without doing what I'd really call a "workout". I took the dog for a brief walk, and did some running up and down stairs for laudry and housecleaning, (much more than I usually do in one day). I hadn't realized I was getting THIS bad - just two years ago I could walk briskly for 45 minutes, and now I'm out of breath just going to the mailbox, and my back and ankles ache like crazy. This is scary stuff!

stretch, stretch, STRETCH!!! Most people forget that exercise is a 3-part deal: Cardio, strength training, AND flexibility. Flexibility, in fact, is the most important of all 3..you don't have to do cardio and weights every day, but it is recommended that people stretch every day.

Good point! I hadn't thought to stretch, since I wasn't doing a "real" workout!

I waitress someetimes, and I never count it as a Real Workout, but I'd get horrible charley horses at night because I'd go to the gym in the morning, workout, stretch, and forget I was doing anything else active. Once I realized that standing on my feet for 5 hours is a little bit of a workout, I stretch my calves before going to bed and it's all good.

It seems really hard right now but it will get easier and you wont be as sore.
